not necessarily true by any means, even if it is backed up by some weird youtube fiction; your absolutist reasoning will cause you problems one day. a firearm evens the odds. they don't make you invincible any more than not carrying a firearm makes you guaranteed to be victimized.

Elaborate please, cause from where I am it's wise decision for our family to hunt. Better, healthier meat, and MUCH cheaper.

No, but that really wasn't the point of this thread was it?

Hello.

I made what i considered to be a "wise" choice 22 years ago when i joined the Infantry. On numerous occasions i've found a gun to be pretty handy.

It should read "You don't need a gun, if EVERYONE ELSE on earth makes wise choices in life."

even then, guns exist for more reasons than just self defense and the defense of others, and the others are legitimate too.

If you add the word "probably" after the word "you" and before the word "don't," I"d agree with the statement.

For reasons that are complicated I can't own a gun (not because I'm a felon or something, haters), and I hate it. But I'm dealing with it. I probably won't ever need it. In fact, I almost certainly will never need it. The end result of my circumstance is that I will have saved several thousands of dollars on various gun-related things, and I will have saved hours of my life to be utilized on more useful activities.

Or I might get tortured and killed because I didn't have a gun to protect me.

You just don't know. And that's why most people should own a firearm. If used intelligently, your odds of finding yourself in the worst of situations goes down. It's that simple.

Disagreed.

My decisions can be sound. It's the other people's decision making ability that drive me to be a gun owner.

Lightbulb "You don't need a gun, if you make wise choices in life"

You have no input to the choices that criminals make.

They don't all stay in the hood, preying on each other. They oftentimes go to good neighborhoods where they know there's less competition from rivals and more in the way of worthwhile merchandise they can quickly sell.

Thus, you can be prepared, or count on their mercy in the event of a confrontation. A confrontation that could occur in your own home at 2 am. Or in your own back yard as you mow the grass. They make the choices. You're left to react.

In the next couple of years I feel sorry for folks that have failed to make the wise choice of acquiring a gun, or two. Seriously~

Sure, if you make wise choices, you can get someone else to do the shooting and the getting shot on your behalf.
