It's sad that people can't be content with the life and body they are blessed with.
It's becoming common here, especially in fruity California.

Yep, they're just as many infant sex change operations as their are infant circumcisions in California - they're about equally as common.

Not an issue.

The only thing that will lead people to make it an issue is for the media to give attention to the .0001% of men who say their parents had no right to do that to them and they long for their foreskin on cold, dark lonely nights. If they are given a major platform to speak, soon society will follow suit because it'll be the newest "hip" cause to get behind, even though there's really no issue here. I have never met a person who resented being circumcised as a baby. Not one. Those who complain are the exception, not the rule, and rather than take their anger out on society, let them just opt not to circumcise their kids.

I am circumcised, my sons will be, and that's that.

I've known two men who had a condition called phimosis which is when the foreskin cannot be retracted, and a circumcision is medically necessary.

One was a friend who had it done at 19, the other my grandfather who had the pleasure of being sliced at age 85.

Neither was happy with the recovery to put it mildly.

I had it done, as did my son, seems worth it. From what I gather anesthesia was not used on me (1982) but my son was under general (2010); things change I guess.

Lemme just ease your mind on one thing, PoppySead.

"where do we stop in the future if we do this?"

Given the relative lack of benefits to female circumcision and magnitude of loss in removing the breasts or ovaries, all I know that I can support outright is male circumcision. I do not believe there are enough body parts on the human being that any rational person would consider "useless" or even insignificant. But I suppose we just have to wait and see where the research leads.

Yep! Thank you for sharing this! People are really just taking shots in the dark when they talk of letting the boy decide as an adult. For this reason alone, parents might well decide not to wait. But also, as I mentioned earlier, circumcision is less effective in helping to prevent penile cancer the longer you wait. So all this vs. an ideal in the mind to do with "wholeness" or the idea that the child should get say because it's his body. Meanwhile, bigger decisions that will undoubtedly have a much bigger impact are still not up to the kids. We choose what state they live in, what town, what sort of school they go to, and of course indoctrinate them with our personal beliefs from start to finish. But the foreskin, that's the facet of life that will make or break you
