Lemme just ease your mind on one thing, PoppySead.
"where do we stop in the future if we do this?"
Given the relative lack of benefits to female circumcision and magnitude of loss in removing the breasts or ovaries, all I know that I can support outright is male circumcision. I do not believe there are enough body parts on the human being that any rational person would consider "useless" or even insignificant. But I suppose we just have to wait and see where the research leads.

I had it done, as did my son, seems worth it. From what I gather anesthesia was not used on me (1982) but my son was under general (2010); things change I guess.

Yep! Thank you for sharing this! People are really just taking shots in the dark when they talk of letting the boy decide as an adult. For this reason alone, parents might well decide
not to wait. But also, as I mentioned earlier, circumcision is less effective in helping to prevent penile cancer the longer you wait. So all this vs. an ideal in the mind to do with "wholeness" or the idea that the child should get say because it's his body. Meanwhile,
bigger decisions that will undoubtedly have a much bigger impact are still not up to the kids. We choose what state they live in, what town, what sort of school they go to, and of course indoctrinate them with our personal beliefs from start to finish. But the foreskin,
that's the facet of life that will make or break you
