It's a non-issue, it's up to the parents and nobody else either way they decide, no big deal.

Yes, I think you are using the age-old Appeal to Authority fallacy, which is not "rational" at all, it's deceptive.

Don't tell me what I can discuss or not discuss. Save the authoritarian nonsense for your kids foreskin.

As for the rest of your biased rant, you prefer cut because it's what you know and you've been raised under the false societal supposition that uncut = "unclean".
It -- as in plain words sans any exclamation/emotion of any kind -- 'sounded ranty' to you. Ok, I just laughed a little. Go look up the word 'rant'.

Rant - to speak or declaim extravagantly or violently.

Hm. Based on your posts, they might be considered borderline ranty. Go grind your axe, amigo. If you're so upset about the travesty committed against your person x number of years ago, then it's simple, don't have your son undergo such a procedure. I couldn't get more plain than that.

the winner of this thread gets to talk to all the guys whose parents made them take gymnastics, pushed them to play baseball 24-7, were harped on for being poor at school and so forth. THese physical and mental scars are all real. However, they are treatable by copious amounts of vagisil.

Now onto some threads about serious childhood abuse, rape, incest, molestation and whatnot.

Enjoy.

You know, it really is just that simple. I don't often label controversies a non-issue, but I can't bring myself to think of this as anything but a perfect example.

I say the solution is to wear a condom 24/7. Problem solved

Aha, glad to hear you've decided to believe me regarding my parents' occupation. And Appealling to Authority is not always an invalid argument. It would be a fallacy if, say, my parents were astrophysicists or prominent elected officials. Asserting that because people of those professions are highly regarded then they must be correct regarding their approach to circumcision is deceptive and would be irrelevant to the conversation.

But my parents aren't astrophysicists or prominent elected officials. They're medical doctors and, thus, their authority is relevant to the topic.
