She shouldn't have run and I can't 100% say it's not largely her fault....but...
"serve and PROTECT"
That part..."protect" includes people under suspocion of committing a crime. Did he really need to taser her? He was right on her heels. Couldn't that fat bastard have grabbed her? He was afraid she was going to be hit by a car?? What about falling and hitting her head on the pavement?
There is blame on both sides for that. Unless the person in question is a murderer or rapist or something like that, there is no need to go around tasering people just because they don't do exactly as you want. The taser should be a weapon of second-to-last resort, not the first thing you do when they don't listen.
This unfortunate girl was tasered for a very simple reason - the cop chasing her was too fat to run after her.
I wonder how many other people are killed every year in the US running away from fat police officers who would simple drop a perp rather than give chase and give up after 10 yards.
Mind you, being too fat to flee must impact on the criminal community too.
She had cocaine and oxy in her blood at the time of arrest, was the suspect in a 2 hit and runs where she probably had that same cocaine and oxy in her system, was handcuffed and decided to try and run from the trooper. All actions on her part that brought this on.
Yes you never run from the police and deserve some level of discomfort if you do...however the use of the taser was an abuse of force...she was cuffed...the officer was right on her heals...LEO was just plain lazy and should be suspended and be forced to get in reasonable shape for an officer.Oh and the family is going to get millions...

The Daily Mail reports that last September Florida State Trooper Daniel Cole tried to arrest 20-year-old Danielle Maudsley at her home for an alleged hit-and-run accident.
No doubt she brought it all on herself and by running away she needed to be re apprehended however i dont think tazering her was the way to go, the police knew where she lived as thats where she was picked up in the first place. the lazy cop used the tazer to make up for his failure to be able to pursue and capture the girl due to his out of shape condition, did this cop never take any physical training to capture some one with out using deadly force?.. i sometimes get the feeling cops look for any excuse to use their tazers, resulting in 100's of mostly needless deaths every year.....
