I think there will be so much confusion regarding taxes, benefits, and legal rights (e.g. children, death benefits) when couples live in one state and work in another, or move to another state and find themselves "no longer married", that there will need to be a normalization process and that will spread same sex marriage to all states, IMO.
(Can't vote, but I would be #4)

No. Not Utah. Mormons are nothing if not practical in their politics. In a way, they have the most cause to be understanding of homosexuals being discriminated against because of the dominant's religion's beliefs being imposed on them.

I'll put my money on Mississippi.

It was the Mormons pouring money into CA to deny same sex marriage in CA.

If anything the Mormons have stepped back from the limelight in the fight.

A nice summary of Sevcik v. Sandoval, a federal case before the Ninth Circuit challenging the constitutionality of Nevada's ban on same-sex marriage.
Nevada case could decide gay marriage issue for all | Las Vegas Review-Journal

The case will probably be heard by the Ninth in November or December, with a decision early next year. If the Ninth strikes down the Nevada law (or if it doesn't, for that matter), the case would be appealed to the United States Supreme Court, likely to be heard in either the spring or fall of 2014, depending on just how quickly it moves through the pipeline.

In U.S., 52% Back Law to Legalize Gay Marriage in 50 States

Quote:
If given the opportunity to vote on a law legalizing gay marriage in all 50 states, the slight majority of Americans, 52%, say they would cast their vote in favor, while 43% would vote against it.
Quote:
This adds to the body of evidence in Gallup trends that public opinion on gay marriage has reached a tipping point, whereby the majority now clearly supports it. Nevertheless, the issue remains highly divisive, as large majorities of left-leaning, nonreligious, and younger Americans endorse it, while right-leaning, religious, and older Americans still oppose it.

There are no recognized common law unions in the majority of states in AMERICA.

So you and woman #4 or 5 or whatever can keep pretending your married in Canada, but in America, the only recognized unions have to be done via signing of the requisite paperwork.

SC is the most socially conservative state in the US

Lawyers Olson and Boies want Virginia as same-sex marriage test case - The Washington Post
Quote:
The legal team that overturned California’s ban on same-sex marriage is targeting Virginia to launch another challenge aimed at convincing the Supreme Court that gays and lesbians have a constitutional right to marry no matter where they live.

The American Foundation for Equal Rights — with its attention-getting political odd couple of conservative Republican lawyer Theodore Olson and liberal Democrat David Boies — will announce Monday it is joining a lawsuit against what the lawyers called Virginia’s “draconian” laws prohibiting same-sex marriages, the recognition of such marriages performed where they are legal, and civil unions.
Interesting, though one or more cases currently before the Ninth Circuit are likely to reach the Supreme Court long before any prospective case out of Virginia. Still, it is always worth pursuing other avenues in the event that another tack does not pan out.

It will be legal in certain states, mainly the liberal ones, most states probably won't allow it, only exception is if it's overturned by liberal judges which is what happened in most of those states that do allow it (contrary to what some Gallup polls suggest, voter support for gay marriage is very low). It will never be legalized in the south, this is not debatable.

I personally support civil unions, but with the full benefits of marriage. Marriage it's self however should remain between a man and a woman only. Not a man and 5 women, not a man and his sister, not a man and a man and a woman, not a man and a teenager, and not a man and another man. Or a woman and another woman.

If gay people really believed their drivel that "love is love " and "people should marry WHOEVER they want " then they would support all those relationships above. But everyone deep down knows those things are wrong, just like gay marriage.

Lol first you guys blamed the blacks and Hispanics, now you are blaming the Mormons. A very small group of people in the nation who don't even have that much money to begin with. You shouldn't believe everything you read.
