Midnight rules, the flurry of last-minute regulations presidents often push through in their final days in office, might not be so bad, at least according to the Obama administration's point man on the issue.

The practice has rankled scholars and government reformers since the 1980s, when an avalanche of rules issued at the end of the Carter administration came under public scrutiny. Only hours into his own administration, President Barack Obama ordered a freeze on the midnight rules issued by his predecessor.
Quote:
His proposal, if approved, would give the White House the same freedom to issue last-minute regulations as previous administrations. This could be valuable to Obama because he faces a difficult re-election environment and midnight rules are especially common among one-term presidents who haven't had time to complete work on all of their public policy ambitions.
Oh how sweet it is. President Hope and Change shows up and puts the kibosh on Midnight Rulemaking by outgoing President's because he did not want to implement the last-minute rules put in place by the outgoing Bush Administration.

Now that he faces the possibility of defeat, Barack Obama is seeking to un-freeze this policy. Why? So he can do the same thing as Bush, Clinton, and Carter before him.

When can we expect Hope and Change to show up? Could it be that Barack Obama really had no clue what it would be like to be President when he was spending countless hours trash talking George Bush?

Any rule that Barack passes can be revoked on Day One of the next administration.

Right, but the difference here is that Mr. Hope and Change was going to do things differently in Washington DC.

What happened?

The policy was to try to reverse decisions made by Bush. He's going to now implement those rules? You need to check your logic there. You're saying that his policy was not implementing the rules of the previous administration. Reversing that policy would mean he was implementing Bush's rules. That has nothing to do with Obama making Midnight Rules. Your logic is utterly and completely flawed. Time to take a deep breath and put away the emotions.

Did you read the article?

I will not respond to your remarks until you fully grasp the topic. There's no excuse for ignorance.

Of course. It would have been idiotic for him to not do so.

What "policy" is he "unfreezing?" You're not thinking very clearly. He is exercising the same prerogative for rule making now as he did then.
