Right. It's been hard to find a Bush voter since 2006. I'm about as fooled as a Roman soldier listening to Peter deny Christ though. If you believe Obama is the worst president to grace the office, I know who you are. I know who you voted for. I don't forgive you for what you did to my country. I might be persuaded to forgive if you apologize and promise to never vote for monkey for president again.

Well, someone voted for him, or a lot of someones.
I always thought he was just plain inadequate, from the beginning. It seems that McCain really should have been the 2000 nominee and the powers that be didn't want a genuine reformer (campaign finance anyone?) to win, hence, George W., dancing to the neocon puppet strings, especially the one in "an undisclosed location."
But I just thought he was plain inadequate, regardless.
Now, given that the financial hose-down took place on his watch (when he wasn't watching or busy deregulating whatever Reagan didn't get), Iraq was a disaster from the get-go, and I have no idea why he or his people would think that was a good idea, except maybe to have basically an oil-rich colony.
Worst ever? I don't know enough about distant ones to say, but I think he's right up there.

Many Republicans on here claim they were critical of him. To be fair, they deny being Republicans, so I take their comments with a grain of salt.

I liked Bush before I read his book. The book only reinforced what I liked about him to begin with.

I greatly dislike Barack Obama. I have no desire to read his pre-President books (none) but i'll be glad to give him an objective read when he pens his post-President memoirs.

In some ways, my opinion improved, in some it got worse. The spending that he did is looking more and more unwise. Also the wars.

However, in retrospect, his handling of 9/11, especially pleading with Americans to have more tolerance of Muslims in the aftermath, seems like it was really smart and had a positive impact.

I opposed him while he was in office. If he was back in office I'd oppose him again. I don't like progressives even when they are conservative progressives.

And I didn't read his book. I don't put much stock in autobiographies by politicians. However I have seen him interviewed since he left office and he strikes me as a more thoughtful and decent person than I took him for while he was in office. I still wouldn't elect him dog catcher, but I do respect him more as a human being now.

The capacity to objectively judge other conservatives and criticize them where criticism is due is one thing that sets conservatives apart from liberals who march in lockstep.

You know that is not true. Plenty of liberals and Democrats have criticized the President over his failure to keep his pre-election promises. Some of them have even been televised. I'm surprised you missed that.

In any case, liberals and Democrats are no more a lock step voting block then are the Republicans.

Remember, he still had a fringe support group... so small that even I felt terrible for him during his last year in office. Add a few since it has been some time that people with memory issues have forgotten the rest of us see as nothing but a debacle that we will be paying for a LONG time.
