5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them; and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.
What's this "we" nonsense coming out of your mouth? There's no such thing. There's you stealing candy & lead toys to kids, and then there's the rest of us who know what an honest living looks like.
I would say that these sentences need to be read and thought out by every voter in our nation at least once a day. Try them out for veracity.
These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read:
Unfortunately, most voters don't know this.
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

Or, you can summarize all of the above, as one of the most brilliant men who ever lived put it, "We've got to spread the wealth around".

Ross perot-he may be a wing-nut, but he had a good line (besides the giant sucking sound of corp. leaving the country)
he said something like this-many years ago during his campaign- "we are 3-4 trillion dollars in debt, none of us can comprehend what a trillion is....but let me ask you this "WHAT DO WE HAVE TO SHOW FOR THIS DEBT"????????
we are worse off now then before we spent it"
now we are 15 trillion in debt-what do we have to show for it?? we are worse off now than before we spent the last ten trillion.
so, unless we stop spending monies we dont have- we will be greece
funny how i agree with these 5 principles, and yet disagree with everything you say in practice.
in your mind, we're giving all this money to poor people. that's not what i see going on. i see us printing ridiculous amounts of money to support the upper classes of society.
I was working for my father when I was 12 and he paid me. I plan to be working long after 65. Who says I have to retire at a certain age?
We have something in common, but I started working for my dad at age 8. No, you aren't counted as the "labor force" until you are 16 or 18, and when you hit 65, they remove you from the formulas.

Well, I have to say this is your best post I've ever seen. This is precisely why I came to America and why I voted for Ron Paul last week. this used to be common sense, but many people have been brainwashed into thinking Big Daddy Government has to take care of them
Actually, that's a pretty good estimate. The labor force participation rate is relatively high anyway. You're crazy if you think 85% of people are working...heck, 6.5% of the population is under 5 years old.
But some people prefer to use government numbers that have been screwed around at least a little when talking about unemployment, not true facts like you did.
rock_chalk? Will you be watching the big game tonight?
Then why would you "like to see where only 150 million Americans are working" ?
As I said, many people prefer government doctored figures and want to apply them instead of true numbers.
