I guess it's the same reason why Democrats don't call themselves what they really are: socialists. It's why the Republican party doesn't call themselves what they really are: fascists. I agree with you that there isn't much of a difference between what I associate with the libertarian party and the anarchist movement, and that's just fine with me.

Do you understand even for a moment what AUTHORITARIAN power is?? It is the kind of power where the ruling class expects absolute obedience from you, and any dissent is dealt with an iron fist. You want that kind of power? I certainly don't. Nor does 99% of the people, libertarian or not.
You saying it 100 times over doesn't make Libertarianism Anarchism. More over, stop acting as if the Libertarian Party platform, right or wrong, embodies all aspects and ideas of libertarianism. At the very least, Google the definitions of Libertarianism and Anarchism.

Gosh, people are stupid.
Authoritarians are a silly bunch. They like to decide what freedoms are best for you.
Americans have been, for a long time, center right people. They want as little government intervention into their private lives as is possible.
Most people like social safety nets, as those aren't seen as intrusion into private lives, but when behavior is linked to those safety nets, then people get their dander up.
Keep the country safe, make sure if people are working they are feed, clothed, housed, and taken care of when sick, and leave the rest of it the hell alone.
Thats the general American publics ideal political position.
I think I have found my dream candidate.
