Raises hand and admits to occasional sluthood.

The issue is that the Catholic church should get out of the business of providing health care. Frankly they're a group of celibate old men who hold women in contempt. Half the world would be better off if they would just shut up and go away.

Does that really effect what the debate is about. The deabte is about who should apoy. I would venture that 99% have tasted alsohol but does that mean alcohol usage should be paid for by governamnt or by forcing others who valuess are against consumptio to pay for alcohol usage?I thnik that the same applies to illegal drugs;should it be paid for by governamnt or others including teens?

I've had to take the pill for a medical condition, and if my insurance hadn't covered it the cost would have been more like $300-$400 a month with visits and lab costs.

One more thing--another poster here explained this, but until then it never even occurred to me that so many adults would have no idea how the pill works. It's not like Viagra, where you take a pill before you have sex. If you use the pill, you have to take it daily, regardless of whether you have sex or not. You take hormone pills for 21 days, and then either a placebo or no bill for seven days so that you'll have a period. If you miss pills, you can not only become pregnant, but really mess up your menstrual cycle and your body. The bottom line is that people don't take lots and lots of pills so they can have lots and lots of sex. Whether you have zero sex or daily sex during that month, you have to take the pill daily for it to be effective.

I'm quoting my own post to repeat the information, because I can't believe how ignorant some of you are about birth control, and it only reinforces my belief that a big chunk of this board is composed of children playing on the computer after school.

Birth control pills will cost exactly the same amount whether you're having "lots and lots of sex" or no sex at all. If you take the pill, you have to take it every day, and you can't start and stop it. You don't take it when you have sex. You take it every day, and it costs the same whether you have sex every day or NEVER. Get it?

And the point of this thread is ... ? So what if 99% (a highly inflated figure to be sure and totally based in fantasy of uber-angry conservative jingoists) of women use or have used contraception?

Are you saying using a condom is a bad thing? That is a contraception method too.

To me this simply underscores how mature our society is getting about reproduction, and how people would rather wait to have children when they're ready rather than having them way before they're able to take care of them emotionally and financially. I say "great!"

The Guttmacher Institute is always a good place to start but any recognized health institution could also be cited.

Here's a few to get the ball rolling:

• Virtually all women (more than 99%) aged 15–44 who have ever had sexual intercourse have used at least one contraceptive method.[2]

• Overall, 62% of the 62 million women aged 15–44 are currently using a method.
The Guttmacher Institute is Planned Parenthood, in case you didn't know. That is their "research" arm.

I should also like to add... who the heck gives a rats rear end? This is the stupidest thread.

I invited everyone to submit their own data from accredited sources if they did not like my source. Did you not read the first post?

Go ahead, do your own research.

Never mind, it took me 30 seconds to find another source. Does the CDC work for you?

And without a government welfare program, AMAZING!
