Sandra Fluke has become a household name, but unlike heroines of the past, who fought for meaningful change and equality for women, Fluke was used as a tool for the radical leftist agenda which is focused on unbridled sexual promiscuity.

Most women have better things to do, and see that there are more important issues, more important battles to be fought.

I started a thread a few days ago which spoke to this issue. Crimes against women often go without justice being served, as the perpetrators are often set free by liberal judges, only to commit more crimes against women.

Not one of the leftist women on C-D cared. So, where are the real advocates for women today? Are they all gone?

This is where the Molly Yard's of the world have brought them.

It's the CONservative that are making this a big deal.

So are any conservatives going to stand up and speak out against Rick ("having a baby by a rapist is a gift from God") Santorum?

If it is not a Republican war on women, then what, exactly are the Republicans waging? They aren't doing things like trying to require transvaginal probes for women seeking abortions in Virginia, the Wisconsin Republicans banning private insurance coverage for abortions, and Arizona Republicans advancing a bill that would require women who wish to have their contraception covered by their health insurance plans to prove to their employers that they are taking it to treat medical conditions? That bill also makes it easier for Arizona employers to fire a woman for using birth control to prevent pregnancy despite the employer's moral objection. If this isn't a Repbublican war on women, what the friggin hell is it???

I agree, women aren't stupid. But apparently the Republicans are. I guess no one told them that the majority of the population in this country are women. And so alienating them, particularly during an election year, might be a VERY BAD IDEA! What's next on their agenda? Banning women from voting?

The only people I know of who are introducing legislation in half the state houses in the country to interject government in women's reproductive health choices are far right wing religious fundamentalists. They're the ones who've "manufactured" this issue.

Editing...Which jazzarama just did! Thanks. I read the testimony, but had not heard the Q&A. That is a very interesting article you linked too. Ironically, it talks about people who have not even read the testimony, which everyone should.

Who are apparently frightened to death of Muslims, which is ironic since they have so much in common with fundamentalist Islam.

This is just an attempt to have the "DADDY" state enforce the dictates of the "DADDY" religion in order to subjugate women and return them to the status of male property.

What an idiotic take on the subject.

A religious organization should NOT be forced to issue benefits that go against the stated and recognized beliefs of that institution. Further...the government should not be in the INSURANCE business to begin with.

Point...women are free to get birth control in any form they wish...as are men. There is no 'SUBJUGATING' of anyone or returning people to a PROPERTY status.

Nobody DOES care, unless you go before congress to whine that having to pay for birth control is a hardship that "poor" students shouldn't have to burden.

But it's bigger than that. They are fighting for "female emancipation".
I didn't realize women in the US were still fighting for equality.

What this is all about is the GOP running for damage control in an election year in the midst of their anti-woman regressive positions. They're anti-abortion; anti-contraception; and against renewal of the Violence Against Women Act, the once broadly bipartisan 1994 legislation that now faces fierce opposition from conservatives.
