Get it? They added a year. The previous measured period was 2012–2021. Now it's 2012–2022. So of course the projection rises!
The Washington Examiner is nothing but a shill news source. Without that extra year, the 2012-2021 cost actually dropped by $50 billion.
They make ten year projections. I know you'd like to do some fuzzy math like how you and your ilk were able to get the thing passed in the first place by taxing people 3 years before the thing even started but you're not going to be able to get away with anymore. The true cost of Obamacare will rise $50 billion dollars every year and they'll revise ever year from now to insolvency.
How can I make such a wild accusation? Because the other three programs your ilk is so proud of are doing the exact same thing.
It's real simple. You raise taxes on the wealthy and cut defense spending. Along with reasonable, moderate cuts to Medicare involving lower payments to health care providers, insurance companies, and mild patient care rationing.
You actually are standing in the way of all this because you fall for GOP propaganda every time. You simply believe and repeat everything they tell you.
Get it through your head. YOU and other right wing voters are the reason for the budget deficits and sky high health care costs.
Pathetic, absolutely pathetic! Don't you just love the soothing language of totalitarians: "moderate" cuts to Medicare and "mild" patient care rationing." Guess what? Your "moderate" cuts to healthcare providers ensures that people on Medicare won't be able to find a doctor willing to treat them. So much for increasing accessibility to healthcare! And when bureaucrats start rationing healthcare neither you nor your doctor are in charge of your health. Your doctor becomes just another government functionary.
But you're right about the budget deficits. The Republicans put a gun to the head of Obama and Pelosi and Reid and forced them to spend (and borrow) $6 trillion more in four years than was actually taken in in tax revenues. Wow!

You aren't a big believer in Market Forces are you?
Rivlin (Democrat)-Domenici (Republican), Simpson (Republican)-Bowles (Democrat), Congressman Ryan's (Republican) all have proposed variations on the same theme for Medicare.
The theme? Get rid of the current pay for service model, which invites over-prescription of tests, procedures and treatment, and fraud. Replace with a premium support (voucher) program, with safety net for lower income individuals.
Just google any of those either groups of names, or Ryan medicare for plenty of information.
Now, stop the demagoguing (making this a Republican Vs Democratic thing). It is not.

As I've shown in post#58, the reason why the cost went up was because the measured period went from 2012-2021 to 2012-2022, adding one entire year to the cost. There should be no surprise that the total period cost rose. You really should read the CBO report instead of getting the summary from a right-wing rag.
That one year didn't make it rise from 900 billion to 1.7 trillion no matter how many times you want to scream about it. I'm still waiting for ANYBODY to explain how the US is going to pay for this? All I've seen is arguments that it hasn't risen as much as the link says bla bla bla.

Ahem: "This report also presents estimates through fiscal year 2022, because the baseline projection period now extends through that additional year. The ACA’s provisions related to insurance coverage are now projected to have a net cost of $1,252 billion over the 2012–2022 period (see Table 2, following the text); that amount represents a gross cost to the federal government of $1,762 billion, offset in part by $510 billion in receipts and other budgetary effects (primarily revenues from penalties and other sources)."
So, the Examiner didn't include the offsets as to inflate the cost.
HOW ARE WE GOING TO PAY FOR IT?????? AAAAHEM............
Penalties and other sources. LOL. Penalties that havn't been levied and other sources which means they are planning or robbing it from another program so in the end it will cost 1.762 trillion just like the gdam CBO says. Ahem..........

I absolutely am, Bob. But government bureaucrats dictating the cost of medical services and rationing healthcare is as far from market forces as one can get. In fact "socialism" describes what the Left wants to do to healthcare in this country quite well, don't you think?
