There we go...Post #4 and Bush gets the blame for Obama's screw-ups. You guys have a perfect hobgoblin to blame everything on.

According to Bob Woodward's book, "Obama's War," Obama angered Petreaus and other top military generals by not making the surge in Afghanistan larger with a longer withdrawl timeline. He may have "made a mess" there, but I think the overwhelming majority of Americans (we're probably heading into 80 percent territory) want us out of there. He is on course to take us out sooner than his generals wanted, not earlier. Who's out of touch here?

Obama's policy toward Afghanistan has been consistent. He said he were going to leave in 2014. That's when we are going to leave. We're going to leave on our timeline, not the enemies'. It makes sense to me.

There is more of course.

Obviously, he thinks he knows better than our military how to fight a war. He doesn't...but he sure knows how to lose one. His decisions are based purely on politics.

This is what you get with an inexperienced, partisan hack interested in saving his own skin, instead of fighting a war to WIN it.

My god, what is the goal? To defeat the Taliban? I don't think so. If you go to war, you better go to win it....or bring the troops home.

You KNOW obama would like nothing better than to cut and run, but how would that look to the world?
So what?

[cut the albatross and focus on the US]

Here we go again is right! Sweeping 2000-2008 under the rug as if it had not impact or led up to any of the problematic issues we are facing as a nation today. Talk about tunnel vision and selective memory. We are reaping the seeds that were sewn long before Obama sat in The Oval Office.

I think that most Americans understand that Obama is working with a very bad hand. They might not be happy with how the game is going at the table, but they get that he was dealt a doozy by the monkey who preceded him. I think the Right, which refused to see the W train wreck even as we were speeding down the track into a head-on collision, finally allowed themselves to see the mess we were in around early 2009 or so. So whose fault was it? Obama's of course! Obama is probably going to get a second term. A big part of his campaign is probably going to be to remind the country what happened the last time a Republican was in the White House. This is all very fair and very appropriate. The Right will scream and holler about it, but it will work.

Not to mention that he's going to get the credit for 'killing' Osama.

[whether he deserves the credit is irrelevant - he's going to push that button]

The "bad hand" is one he dealt to himself, as the article spells out.

Quote:
But he began by terminating President Bush’s practice of regular personal communications with President Hamid Karzai. Several of his envoys treated Mr. Karzai roughly and disparaged him in public. The U.S. official most able to work with the Afghan leadership, Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, was abruptly pushed out of his post because of a hyped magazine article.
HIS arrogance and narcissism came along with policy.

THIS is the bottom line.

Quote:
As they watch these moves, Afghans, the Taliban and neighbors such as Pakistan can reasonably conclude that the United States, rather than trying to win the war, is racing to implement an exit strategy in which the interests of Afghans and their government are slighted.
Obama said long ago it was NOT about winning the war.

I agree and since Dubya had two tems to royally screw up and screw us, it's only right that Obama has his terms to continue to unravel the big hairball of a mess that was left behind.

There you are. You guys have your perfect campaign slogan ready. Obama doesn't even have to run against Romney, he'll just run against Bush while bashing Palin.
