Just last week Barack Obama signed H.R. 347 that was written as a result of the killing and wounding of all those people the day that a House Member was shot. I suppose those Congressmen who signed this bill into law really saw it as necessary to protect our politicians from all those wild Conservatives running loose. Well, of course, conservatives since Sarah Palin was accused of organizing the whole thing for some time.

Anyway it might be good for people here to read the words of the law and see if they can see why many legislators failed to vote for it. I see some more of the advancing Marxist thinking and legislating that we are getting so much of. Yes, the main Marxist nations of the world have laws like this one.

I am against this because we just aren't allowed to do much when there is a politician standing around. Oh well, they are slowly taking away freedom of religion so freedom of speech isn't such a big thing, anyway.

Our "freedoms" are slowly, but surely, eroding. When folks are aware of it, something can be done about it. It's when no one is paying attention that things get out of hand!

If there is a politician present, it appears that one had better keep his mouth shut and just go along with whatever the pol says. Can't believe this bill made it through both houses. Not surprised Obama signed it.....

If the critics of the law are correct in their assessment, then the courts will likely void the law for vagueness.

You do realize the bill was:

1) Sponsored by a Florida Republican (Thomas Rooney)
2) Passed in the House 399-3

Obama signed it yes but it was voted on by both parties and overwhelmingly approved.

While this may sound fairly mundane, the actual language in the bill can be easily construed to override the First Amendment right of free speech in many situations.
If you are hell bent on reading something into it!

So, you're with the Occupy movement?
Quote:
On March 12th, 2012 at 7pm protesters from Occupy DC gathered at McPherson Square with the purpose of voicing their discomfort with the signing, by President Obama, of H.R. 347.

H.R. 347, also known as the Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act, passed the House 399-3 last week, and on Thursday it was signed into law by the President. H.R. 347 is a modified version of an old law which restricted entering or blocking public areas closed off by the Secret Service while an individual, under their protection, is passing through; The law also included major public events.

Occupy movements all over the U.S. are well aware of this law as it has been used to shunt protestors at major political events into “free speech zones”. Police may use this law at their discretion when events such as the G8 or other bilateral conferences are taking place.

....or can read the English language with an ounce of comprehension. Remember,...Social Security began with a 1% payroll tax.

There are some of us who are old enough that this law won't be much of a hinderance. The younger ones evidently have their heads in the sand, incrementally losing their liberties in the namen of "safety and security".

Any law that is this vague needs a court review to determine its constitutionality.

If that's the way you see it,...fine. Personally, EVERY congresscritter should be held accountable for this fiasco, as well as the President who signed it. There are too many knee-jerk reactions to circumstances surrounding Gifford's shooting,....and knee-jerk reactions by politicians (to show support/protection for one of their own) made for bad legislation.

Odds are OWS and the ACLU will test this law in the courts.

This all has come to fruition because of the '10 midterm elections when folks had finally had it and started speaking up at the town hall meetings and holding these people accountable. Well guess what the politicians didn't like that one bit so now if somebody speaks up they are simply removed and this law allows it. Pathetic is what it is. Anybody who defends this nonsense is not a supporter of free speech.
