Just curious...do centrist conservatives applaud Obama for this?Conservatives are for pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps and less hand outs...Is Obama going to get credit for this from them or more bashing.

"What’s more, at a time when big oil companies are making more money than ever before, we’re still giving them $4 billion of your tax dollars in subsidies every year. Your member of Congress should be fighting for you. Not for big financial firms. Not for big oil companies.
In the next few weeks, I expect Congress to vote on ending these subsidies. And when they do, we’re going to put every single Member of Congress on record: They can either stand up for oil companies, or they can stand up for the American people. They can either place their bets on a fossil fuel from the last century, or they can place their bets on America’s future. So make your voice heard. Send your representative an email. Give them a call. Tell them to stand with you."

I'll give him credit for cutting oil subsidies, if and when he does it. My biggest fear though, is that he is trying to completely ruin our oil and gas industry by cutting off the fed funding (it needs to be done), yet will also put up road-block after road-block when the same industry tries to function using its own funds. When it comes to energy and Obama... skepticism is where my head is.....

My biggest fear...

2012 - He ends subsidies trying to gain votes..
2013 - As with every single inauguration year that I can remember - our industry has been flat. The oil and gas companies are going to wait to do their projects till they see how the administration will swing this time.
2014- No jobs. The administration will still be pushing green energy, which while admirable, is no closer to actually becoming a viable alternative.
2015 - $10.00 a gallon gas. Thus a loaf of bread is gonna cost you $5.00... Everything is going to go through the roof...
2016 - The industry will start doing projects and business will boom. Whether Dem or Rep is the front runner it won't matter. Every single election year for the last 30 has been this way.. I can't see it being any different...

The entire defense budget is effectively an oil subsidy. Todays military has one real remit and one remit only (well, other than imposing our banking model on countries), to ensure the oil keps flowing.

it is NOT big oil that gets this
it is ma and pop oil that get them
who else gets these?
I challenge you to research what Obama is saying!
He is not doing a thing but damaging the oil we need!
I say do not give any company money
let them make it or not
and I do not hear you bitc*ing about the billions and billions he has wasted on this "green energy" crap
what would we run on if we do not have oil?
good grief
he is killing us on day at a TIME!!

He can't do it, Congress must, and we all know, the GOP House will not. But, hopefully we can get them on record, again, as supporting Big Oil over Americans.

Why didn't the Dems do it, or everthing they whine about, when they had the House, Senate and the White House?

Were they just too busy?

Now that they only have the WH and Senate I guess they're just doomed to fail. And blame and blame.............
