What is the difference wether or not it goes up or down? Since 1960 there have been 400,000 murders in the US. That makes the US the leading nation of murders. The US has the worst drug problem in the world. US gangs are everywhere and even the police are afraid of them, (Camden NJ). The US leads the world for prisons. The major product of southern states is meth. If the crime rate went up or down by 20% no one would even blink an eye.

Good Point.
I guess people feel all good inside when they think we are a less vile people.
It's not increasing. Asking for a poll on an internet forum when there's pretty clear statistics available makes no sense. You're looking for the crime rate, not rate at which people's emotions tell them crime is increasing.
They are dated statistics, a year old or more. The poll is to get a pulse of what is happening now in the cities that people live in.
In my city Crime rates have gone up over 25% in the last 6 months.
Murder has doubled. Yes up 50%.
Another Marine (multiple Iraq tours) just killed his wife yesterday. He was under treatment for PTSD, and the irony is that His wife was a case worker at the VA for PTSD patients.

We're talking about US statistics here. What happens in your one city, even if it's NY, LA, etc, is pointless. A one year old statistic is still very current.
If the point of your "poll" is to get an idea of what is happening now, do you mean today? Yesterday? Last month? Why don't you say that? Your "poll" has a skewed sample and the only thing it's going to show is the IMPRESSION of crime, not crime itself. Thus, you might as well go ask your toothbrush. The answer will be just as accurate.

You can start a thread and talk about what you want. THis one was started by Modeerf and so it is based on what Modeerf is talking about. And i'm asking.
NOT SCIENTIFICALLY! OBVIOUSLY.
Do you know if your crime rate is up or down in your City?
Smart. Your neighbor Illinois should ride your vapors.
But then again what would they do with all that riot gear that Rahm just bought?
give it back? sounds like a good choice to me.
