Everything is changing so fast. I received a letter from my GP who is joining this program where you pay your GP around 150.00 a Month to receive the best care. We are struggling to pay our health insurance premiums and now Drs. want to receive extra to do the job they are suppose to do. The letter states "this program will break down the barriers our system has created and allow members to experience an exceptionally high level of physician availability, personalized attention and preventative care"

Another great divide between rich and poor, of which I am feeling these days. This is another way to push the middle class out the door...

Default Imagine paying this fee to all your Drs.?

Dentists, specialists etc. Crazy thought. Remember back in the day when a Dr. had alot of patients they stopped taking new patients. Ok, insurance companys in most cases do not pay them what they deserve but hey they still make great money. Its all about greed and they should be thrilled they are making money period these days!

Curious how many people would pay for this or currently are? Remember this is a fee per person.

Default What?

Any intelligent responses to this? I think this is a scary thought of things to come.

They're the ones with the knowledge and skills, not to mention the ~7 or so years spent becoming a doctor. They can ask whatever price they want, doesn't mean you have to go to them.

Just a retainer. If he or she is a good doc, it makes sense. People drop $150 on coffee and soda without a second thought.

Default Would you pay it?

True, of course I can always get another Dr. as this family Dr. is not worth it honestly. Really? dropping 150 on coffee and soda a month...I don't think so, not these days especially. My point is that it cuts out alot of people from getting the care we ALL received and now there is a extra fee...disturbing to me as this is just the beginning. Another thing is I maybe could understand this in Manhattan or a specialist that is exceptional. In a rural area though?

My family doctor did the same thing, although he wanted to charge some $4,000.00 a year for the privilege to be his patient. Said that he could limit his practice to some 150 total patients, and if I got sick, I could probably see him that or the next day.

I said no thanks.

Oddly enough, he also told me that he actually wanted to limit his practice to Medicare patients. The $4,000 retainer was for us non-Medicare patients. I am still trying to wrap my brain around that reasoning.

It's called the "free market".

I only go to medical facilities that DO NOT accept medicaid patients.

I do not want to be in the same waiting room as a bunch of recipient class dirtballs.
