Cutting past the bitchy sniping going on here, the reason has nothing to do with how bad the other "side" is, the reason there are only two sides is that we have a first-past-the-post presidential type system rather than a parliamentary system. In Europe, if 15% of voters voted for, say, the EuroDisney Party, they would be represented in their parliament. In the U.S., they wouldn't have a chance of scraping a plurality in any district, so they get squat. Hence the two rather depressing choices.

Because we have a "winner-takes-all," single-member district system. Some countries have a system of proportional representation where representation is allotted based on the proportion of votes a party receives. But not in the US of A. If 49 percent of the people in a district vote Democrat, and 51 percent of the people in that district vote Republican, then those 49 percent have to put up with a Republican representing them whether they like it or not.

Liberals would have you believe there is only one way to do things... their way... if you don't do it their way, you are a denier, birther, racist, misogynist, religious freak, wingnut, etc etc... notice the terms they use for the other side? Do you know why humans use those kind of terms? Its a tactic (a tactic any smart person can see through)... why liberals couldn't figure out their own party's tactics... well, that's why they are liberals...

There are THREE sides to politics. Those who give a damn, those who don't, and those who don't know.

One party, with 2 names to give the illusion of "choice." The party of endless war, ever-growing and massively huge government, total control of the citizenry, 100% collusion with Big Business, and nothing but lip service for the former Middle Class, now better known as the working poor.

Obama or Romney aka "The White Obama"? And that is a "choice"? Please.

You deciding to put this after the two reasoned, well-thought-out posts preceding it certainly makes a cogent point.
