I frequently wonder if most voters against legalizing marajuana are drug dealers.
Yes, it makes you dumber, but it doesn't kill you like alchohol and you can stop it, unlike tobacco. It's not a good thing for society...but it probably does more harm illegally than it would do legally. We could tax it legally, like cigarettes. It would suck the drug dealers dry. It would free up the prisons and give police some extra free time. It would cease to be a gateway drug because users wouldn't need to go to illegal drug dealers to buy it. It might even lower usage of the heavier illegal drugs it is a gateway drug to now by decreasing access to drug dealers.
They should definitely have an age requirement for its usage though, and it should definitely be limited to being used outdoors, and we should tax the snot out of it...
Can anyone think of good reasons for marajuana to be illegal that would outweigh the negatives? I've read something about the dumbing down factors not being permenant, even in long term users. If it were permenant, that'd be a reason for it to be illegal, but it doesn't seem to be permenant. It can't kill anyone from an overdose, and it is not chemically addictive.
I am for the war on drugs for the harder stuff though...cocaine and acid and etc.
Marijuana is harmless and has none of the destructive effects of alcohol, which is a huge money making industry. Now imagine what things would be like if booze were illegal, how much crime and mayhem would result?
Marijuana is no more a "gateway" drug than alcohol. Marijuana is non addictive, unlike alcohol. Alcohol can make people violent, Marijuana? Not so much. And people dont die from marijuana overdoes.
But the sheep have been told it is evil, and sheep believe what they are told.
Just legalize them already. So much money has been wasted and so many lives lost, and anyone can still buy drugs if they want to. It was like a bad joke for a while, but not anymore now that people are being massacred daily in Mexico.
