They will even come to the house and install it for free, and I can use the Internet or my smartphone to program it when I'm on the go. But best of all, they want to keep my system more reliable when demand is highest by reaching out and adjusting my thermostat to reduce the energy my AC uses.
Not me adjusting it, the utility will make that decision for me. Maybe the utility knows something. Maybe they know that after Obama's EPA gets done shutting down power plants in this country we are going to have massive brownouts and blackouts.
I have an electrically heated condo townhouse and I have not used the main baseboard heat in 24 years. Sort of our own super thermostat. In New Hampshire.
Lmao, look at all the rightwingers on this thread suddenly turn into commies when something effects them.
In a captalistic society there is such a thing as supply and demand. You cannot force someone to sell you a good or service if they don't want to for whatever reason. Electricity is like anything else that falls into that category. If the power company does not want to sell you the energy to run your AC at full blast during peak usage why should they have to?
Let them try to take control of the thermostat in the summer of women going through menopause. Anyone with basic mechanical skills can easily remove such a thermostat and install their own thermostat. Are these electric companies also going to install a similar device to turn off your clothes drier, electric water heater, televisions, and refrigerator (can be turned off for a few hours safely if the doors aren't opened)?
We understand some of the mouth breathers on the left need a little help with complex tasks like adjusting their AC.
If you think that's the reason for wireless thermostats, you are not a nosebreather either.
