Should the federal government require all 50 states to have hate crime laws on their books?
Currently 5 states do not. Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas, Michigan, and Wyoming.

I might get flamed for this. Why even have hate crime laws? Why does it matter?

The Federal Goverment and all states that have hate crime laws on the books should repeal those hate crime laws. A crime is a crime. It doesn't matter what color you are. It doesn't matter who you have sex with. Criminal intent is enough bias.

Posers have to pose. We already have laws against harming individuals. They need to be applied evenly to everyone. No group should be accorded special privileges.

Exactly. More laws to cause division. I voted no.

No details necessary? Why bother with manslaughter versus homicide? Murder is murder. No?

I voted "no", BTW.

Why do you keep focusing on potential victims when so-called "hate crime" laws are get tough on crime measures that simply target worse criminals with more sinister motivations for harsher punishment?

A crime is a crime, does it matter if someone attacks you because of hate? You're still attacked and injured. It's not multiplied by 1000 because they hated you and decided to attack. Just an attempt to prosecute a "crime of conscience" and legislate hate.
