First, let's review the role and purpose of Medicaid:

Quote:
Medicaid is the United States health program for certain people and families with low incomes and resources. It is a means-tested program that is jointly funded by the state and federal governments, and is managed by the states.[1] People served by Medicaid are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents, including low-income adults, their children, and people with certain disabilities. Poverty alone does not necessarily qualify someone for Medicaid. Medicaid is the largest source of funding for medical and health-related services for people with limited income in the United States.

Keywords: LOW INCOME; POVERTY; LIMITED INCOME

Now, lets review the evidence:

Quote:
A small group of states (Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Nevada, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, and Utah) indicated that fewer than 30 percent
of all births were covered by Medicaid. The plurality of states (17) said that Medicaid covered 30 to 39 percent of all births in 1996. Another sizable group of states (16) indicated that Medicaid births accounted for 40 to 49 percent of total births. In another two states (Alabama and Louisiana), Medicaid paid for between 50 and 59 percent of births in that year.

Now, the opinion:

Fully 40% of births are covered by Medicaid! Why in the world are so many American's having children they cannot afford? Whatever happened to family planning, to include ensuring access to funds and/or insurance that will help to cover maternity costs?!

When can we expect the citizens of the United States of America to reinstitute Personal Responsibility into their lives?

If you can't afford to have children, then you SHOULDN'T have children!

This is the height of personal irresponsibility in America, and it's disgusting!

Exactly right. What you speak of is the Elephant In The Room. Democrats have zero desire to address this issue because they perceive illegal immigrants to be future votes. Does it get any more treasonous?

If it helps keep the percentages low for abortions, I'm all for it. Would you rather they abort?

When exactly was the time when poor couples gathered around their family budget spreadsheet and said, "Gosh, Marge, it looks like our cash inflow/outflow ratio is looking bad...we'd better not have sex and put our family planning on hold?"

Let's get real: poor people around the world have never at any time behaved this way. The sexual /gallon reproductive urge is the strongest urge in any living organism. I'm not saying that babies growing up in poverty is a good thing, but harrumphing about personal responsibility is not a serious approach.

Poor people can't stop f-ing. Illegals come here and get benefits as soon as they drop one. Are you surprised?
