Sgt. Stein who posted several derogatory statements and created websites and political "parties" has been recommended for dismissal in reduction in rank to lance corporal and given a less than honorable discharge. Forfeiting his military benefits and accrued over his 9 year enlistment.
Sometimes you're the bug, sometimes your the windshield LCpl Stein. Good luck selling houses.

Wow, how stupid. Forfeiting your military benefits and the stigma of a dishonorable discharge because you couldn't keep your political opinions to yourself.

Pentagon directives say military personnel in uniform cannot sponsor a political club; participate in any TV or radio program or group discussion that advocates for or against a political party, candidate or cause; or speak at any event promoting a political movement.
Commissioned officers also may not use contemptuous words against senior officials.
Yep. Even if you don't like the President, keep it to yourself. He signed a contract saying he would abide by the Marine's rules. Then he gave those rules the finger. He got what he deserved.
I don't thing the Sergeant made an intelligent decision but I do think he made a wise decision... I wish more people in the military would question orders that they think is unethical or immoral... I can see how if the Government asked the military to attack Americans, they would do so and said they did it because they were told to... it wasn't too long ago people were enlisted in a study to see what people would do in situations where they were inflicting physical pain on someone else... many of you should know of it because it was widely reported in the media... the study asked participants to give an electric shock to a recipient in another room when ordered to do so... even though they were inflicting pain and knew it was wrong, they still did it... at the end, they asked them why they would do something like that and they replied because someone told them to... after the study many the participants had mental breakdowns/trauma as a result and questioned how they could do something that was clearly wrong... the military are like those kind of people... sometimes the military asks you to put aside your wisdom... sometimes you do and sometimes you don't...
He will have job offer after offer, to be better off momentarily and free once again.
Sounds like it was slavery, to be in the military these days.
As opposed to when? Military personnel are the essentially the property of the federal government. You go where they tell you to go, you do what they tell you to do, and you live where they tell you to live, you fight when they tell you to fight. It's certainly not for everyone. That arrangement should be understood when you sign up, which is why I have no sympathy for this guy.
And by the way, if a marine faced the same discipline for talking trash about George W. Bush, I'd have the exact same attitude--even if I personally agreed with his views.
