People who support communism, are apologists for it, or try to downplay what it caused in any way shape or form, or all of the above. Those people have extreme views disconnected from reality and are complete nut jobs.

One good indication of an extremist view is the unwillingness to change an opinion in the face of new or different evidence. Clinging to an idea in spite of the truth pretty clearly makes one an extremist, wouldn't you say?

No, it makes one ignorant, not extremist. Most Americans seem quite unperturbed by our path down the road of fiscal insanity.

Our founding fathers were extremists.

"Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue." Barry Goldwater

Our politicians have succeeded in giving the word extremist a negative image. The two parties, in their neverending attempt to co-opt the independent voter, are always labeling their opponents as extremists. The truth is, with the exception of a few members of the House, extremists don't get elected to Congress or get their party nomination for President. Labeling moderates like Romney extreme is a total absurdity. Now, people label their opponents extreme as if it is a bad thing.

We are a nation with a 15 trillion dollar deficit and unfunded medical pension and medical liabilities that are tens of trillions more. It is time to reject the tyranny of the status quo and embrace extremism in the defense of liberty and fiscal sanity.

Compare it to the US Constitution and see how far from that it varies.

When the viewpoint/proposal would cause society to regress or turn it to a fascist police state.

When those views lead a 19 yr old and a 31 yr old to go shoot innocent unarmed people in their own yards...

'extreme' is a nebulous word and has an interpretive meaning assigned by the reader or listener. it is all a matter of perspective.

Any given socio-political position can be expressed as extreme by whoever decides.

Sadly, those of us who believe in a constitutional republic are now the extremists. Extremism in the defense of liberty ain't no vice.
