So, the question is how does our does the government pay for universal health, universal education etc if there is no private wealth?

California would be a prime example of this.... billions of dollars in debt.
I see no problem with businesses attracting wealth that is their job. I am only socialist when it comes to the things I pointed out in my first post. California is in debt because it allows millions of illegals to leach off its system without putting anything back into it.

[quote=Kkaos2;23783258]Well do you want the state to pay for everyone's medical care and education or do you want the state to respect private property? It can't do both. Do you want the state to provide "a good life" for the citizens or do you want the state to respect personal freedom? It can't do both.

There is a middle ground between socialism and libertarianism but middle ground doesn't mean half a dozen extreme positions from one side and half a dozen extreme positions from the other side.
You can't take mutually exclusive positions and mix them together and call it middle ground. Middle ground means a full slate of moderate positions, not half a platform of socialism and half a platform of individualism.[

Then maybe its time we create a new platform for society. I think its quite a good platform myself.

Freedom from government intrusion
Freedom to pretty much do as you want as long as you are not harming anyone or anything else.

Is there some meeting ground between these 2? I have tried combining them it just doesn't seem to work. Is there such a thing as Socialist Libertarian?
Yes, they are called libertarian socialists. You can google the details. Noam chompsky is such person. They are basically anti government and anti capitalist at the same time.

The only thing I seem to disagree with on Libertarian Socialists is their stance on private property.

Chomsky is anti-private property and identifies more with anarchism.

YES...That middle ground is one of practicality- common sense...and true good will...It used to be called conservatism..where people would conserve what is good...for all...now liberals - socialists...and todays conservatives....only conserve and support what is good for only them..............Liberals liberate..they are supposed to be the ones...who keep things in check and guard real freedom...conservatives are supposed to conserve the wealth like trusted bankers...and socialist are to watch out for the vulnerable and poor....They should all work together.

Look very closely at each of the first socialist concepts. Then, carefully look at your libertarian ones. Can you think of why they may be incompatible in many ways? Where are they such in our current system?

The problem is that there is no "in between" as one requires the subservience of the other to achieve its goals. So unless you get EVERYONE to agree with it and voluntarily participate, you are violating those who do not by requiring them to.

There is simply freedom or servitude, pick one.
