Can you tell me who it was who promised to transform America if elected? Can you tell me what he meant by that? I just read an article about that very thing and it seems that the transformation that man thinks was aimed at has to do with transforming our nation into a socialist haven. Look at what Obamacare has done so far and tell me how it isn't aimed at that socialist haven I mentioned.

I just read another article in which the writer quoted from a left leaning "friend" who sounded so much like so many on this forum sound. Same words and same ideas. I wonder who puts those words and ideas in the heads of many of those people. I know that not that many people can come up with the same words and terms without some help. Maybe you can explain some of this to me.

I think most of the 85% who turn out to vote would do the same and there would be a small percentage who vote 'because their dad voted this way' . US elections seem money centred and very vitriolic. Am I right?

Make no mistake about it, The United States Of Amerit**d is run, for the most part, by insane, corrupt, disgusting slime. And yes, we as a country have degenerated into 2 side, each cannot stand the other, that is reflected in the political parties who are basically dysfunctional.......just like the rest of The US Of Ret**distan.

No where but down the toilet bowl for this country.

I think there is a very strong chance for a Mad Max scenario to play out in this country within the next 10 years.

You really need to go back into american politics and study. But you will alos noitce that seldom does the rehtoric result i riots and mobs burn like it does in so mnay places in the world. Its heated deabte and some rants but I much prefer thsi to roits and burning we see so common in other places. I don't thnik its much different than what I see on C-SPAN in the priminers questions hour o Tv really between the parties.I much prefer debate and words to actaul violence which we really haven't seen since the 60's. I thnik like watch television drama perhaps ypou get the worng idea about realtiy in USA.The amount of money may be relative to the country but money and power always play a part in elections. As to NZ election we probaly get as much news on them as you do about texas state elctions really and its like our influenced by who cover it.

And here you see a prime example of the hatred from the left. You try to ask a reasonable question and it's turned partisan.

See below for hatred from the right:

There is no middle-ground IMO, and if there were to be it should be toward reducing government.

I'm sure the sentiments of Americans are on this forum.

You have those fed up with hand outs, large governments, big debt and 1000% too many government employees.
Then you have the other side that believes in taxing more to take other people's money. They believe they are due the fruit of another person's labor and to me that thinking is sick in the head (which is also a sentiment of Americans also found here).

Yes, and this division and hatred is sustained by conservative talk radio and conservative internet sites and television like FOX News, whose goal is to keep the majority of America, the 99% of us who are not ultra wealthy, fighting each other. It is a wonderful distraction to keep us fighting amongst ourselves while the other 1% and their cronies in Congress steal us all blind.

Ciderman, unfortunately, the quality of divisiveness and 'partisan posturing worship and denigration' is a result of diminished critical thinking skills via our state 'indoctrination' programs known as the public education system, in complicity with a media monopoly dominated by five huge corporate interests controlling, filtering and guiding a narrative to shepherd sheeple for $hearing.

USA politics IS all money centered. Money flows to those most easily controlled. Either already compromised or most easily compromised. The money flows to both sides and increases as the stakes / office / legislative power are raised higher. We have the best 'bought and paid for' politicians in the world. They cater to their own interests (Rule 37 Legislation Disclosure- insider information for profit as one example) and their funders interests (industry and union lobbyists) to maintain their jobs.

Some quotes which get to the fundamental issue that [Cunucu Beach] alluded to above.

"A State divided into a small number of rich and a large number of poor will always develop a government manipulated by the rich to protect the amenities represented by their property.”: Harold Laski (1930)

“Of all the enemies to public liberty, war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes. And armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. “In War, too, the discretionary power of the executive is extended. Its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force of the people. “The same malignant aspect of republicanism may be traced in the inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war…and in the degeneracy of manners and morals, engendered by both. No Nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”: James Madison, April 20, 1795

"Allow me to control the issue of the nation's money and I care not who makes its laws!" - Mayer Rothschild

“If my sons did not want war, there would be none” – Gutle Schnapper Rothschild

“The few who understand the system will be so interested in its profits, or so dependent on its favors, that there will be no opposition from that class, while on the other hand, the great body of the people are mentally incapable of comprehending the tremendous advantage that derives from the system, will bear its burdens without complaint, and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical to their interests” – Rothschild Bros of London to Sen. John Sherman and the brothers Rothschild to start a new Central Bank in America, June 1863.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that time on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
The average age of the world's great civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith from spiritual faith to great courage from courage to liberty from liberty to abundance from abundance to selfishness from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy from apathy to dependency from dependency back to bondage." - Alexander Fraser Tytler (1742-1813)

"Political tags-such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth-are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire." -- Robert A Heinlein

"Forget the politicians, they're an irrelevancy. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you." -George Carlin

“The best secrets don’t need concealment because they’re basically imprisoned by people’s incredulity to believe the astounding truth in and of themselves” - Marshall McLuhan

“In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act” – George Orwell

I don't know about anyone else here but 5 minutes after I make an argument here and read the comments, I forget about the comments. I don't remember who said what either when they say something else a few days later unless I have to research old posts. I've been posting here for a few years and maybe I could name 6 posters and what side they are on on an issue or the issue that's of most concern to them. It's not poster personal. Really.

Right now I've got the biggest problem with the media.
