No dates, no baby sitters, no work - just teach them everything I knew.

Later when they were in their teens well established - then and only then did I return to work. And it was a total disaster - homeless 7 times from people stealing everything we owned!!

Obama's needed 1/2 a million a year to make ends meet ??? That is the most laughable preposterous story I've ever read.

Subsound ??? you twisted and distorted that whole thing. Good Job!!
Nice, how much money did you have saved up to be able to afford this?

My state Texas is one of only two that refused to take federal stimulus money to improve the public schools thanks to our idiot Governor.
You are assuming that throwing money at education is the solution to any perceived problem with our education system. It isn't. Fiscal responsibility, administrative accountability, hiring and retaining competent teachers, and teaching essentials instead of making schools liberal indoctrination centers is the solution.

Both parties were at fault for the Great Depression. That is a whole other deabate. FDR most certainly did not "end" the Depression - Adolf Hitler and Emperor Hirohito did that. FDR's economic policies made the Depression worse.

As for the current recession - you can place the blame for that squarely on the Democrats who controlled Congress at the time of its onset, their refusal to heed President Bush's warning that Fannie and Freddie were going to implode, and the reckless implementation of the Community Reinvestment Act. The Democrat's are knee deep in causing the recession.

The same old mantra that "tax cuts for the rich" are bad. Government cannot improve the economy through any action of its own - but it can hurt it by raising taxes on the producers in society, making it difficult for them to do business and keep the economy strong, create jobs, and be innovative. The Democrats - left unchecked - would revert us back to the stone age - they are hostile to freedom, oppurtunity, and productivity.

I think you need to stop drinking the liberal kool-aid and start thinking about what your party is - a vehicle for socialism, state control, and suppression of liberty.

Oh no! I love this part! You sound like a typical Republican. Always shirking responsibility and placing the blame on Democrats. Cutting taxes and expecting the debt to go away is like expecting to put out a fire with gasoline. It's self-perpetuating. Throwing money at our education system may not fix it, but it sure as hell won't be repaired by cutting funding, math whiz!

No World War II didn't get us out of the Great Depression, either. It was everything together in the New Deal. First of all, it was ending Prohibition and taxing alcohol. That's what got FDR reelected in 1936. Also, his alphabet soup program put people to work when they built the Empire State Building, the Hoover Dam, the Chrysler Building, and other things. World War II didn't start until 1939 and Pearl Harbor didn't happen until 1941.

By that time, the economy was already coming back. That's why they had the women doing the men's jobs and even had women's professional sports leagues. They were very productive in the workforce. Then the men came home and fired them and expected them to go back into the kitchen.

If war was what made the economy going, then our economy would be on steroids right now because Obama inherited not one, but two wars. Not every problem in this world has an American solution. Building our infrastructure DID get things moving though. In fact, our economy was on fire during the 50's when Harry Truman left office and the Interstate Highway system was being built. Nice try, but it won't stick.
