How can this be?

You're telling me that gas prices have doubled since the low point of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression?

Wow! It's almost like gas prices are somehow naturally indexed to the performance of the economy or something ...

Bedbug infestation has gone up hugely in Obama's term in office! How dare he hold out on us and not pull his 2 magic levers that bring down oil prices and kill all the bedbugs in America

Okay, then explain the 80's and 90's where the economy grew the fastest since the industrial revolution. Gas prices plummeted and stayed low for nearly 30 years.

It doesn't include drill here or drill now or there's no silver bullets.

Yup, gas prices have doubled here too, as well as most of the world, but we are not blaming Obama...That would be just stupid.

Not only that, but did you even LOOK at the Quarterly or Monthly averages in your linked spreadsheet?
Apparently not since BOTH show 2008 as the highest levels EVER - which is EXACTLY WHAT I SAID!

The summer quarter of 2008 holds the record for the highest average gas price EVER - what part of that do you NOT understand?
Even your OWN linked spreadsheet shows THAT ("gasoline Q" & "Gasoline M" tabs).
Both the MONTH and the QUARTER tabs show the average gasoline price peaking in the summer of 2008 - and this is from your OWN LINK.
Give it up!
Geeze.

Reminds me of a photo I took.

November 2008, you mean the month when THIS happened:

"The economy shed 533,000 jobs in November, according to a government report Friday - bringing the year's total job losses to 1.9 million.

November had the largest monthly job loss total since December 1974. "

THAT'S what you want to go back to?

November: Most jobs lost since 1974 - Dec. 5, 2008

It may have been 6.8% in November, but as soon as all those folks LAID OFF in NOVEMBER hit the UE lines the UE rate jumped to 7.3% in December - and then when the 700,000+ laid in off December hit the UE lines the rate in January (Bush's last month where was in office) the rate jumped to 7.8%. Nice parting gift from "Junior" eh?
