I didn't actually hate the republican party until Bush. I have always believed that the rich and that class of people have a right to be represented by their own party. Their money and influence should usually equal the working class/lower income voting numbers. In the end, the end result should be a relatively fair government for everyone with give and take.
But the manipulation of the election that Al Gore legally won by the winner's brother in a backward state and then the subsequent UNMITIGATED DISASTER 8 years of Bush sealed the deal for me.
