It looks like some common sense is finally prevailing. A rare occurrence indeed....

(Reuters) - Most Americans support the right to use deadly force to protect themselves - even in public places - and have a favourable view of the National Rifle Association, the main gun-lobby group, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed.

Most Americans back gun lobby, right to use deadly force - Reuters/Ipsos poll | Reuters

it all depends on how you ask the question.

I can create a poll to support just about anything.

Interesting use of Reuters' skewed headline, as a headline for your own thread. A mistake made in your haste to get the post up, perhaps?

Then again, I suppose a headline that reflects actual reality might have been too long:

"Most Americans back the Framers and commonsense laws that say you can use possibly-deadly force to protect yourself. P.S. a few people sent to Washington, back them too."

And....how does your preferred version makes any difference? I'm sorry if you're not pleased with reality.

Having written surveys for social research, market research and political research, I think I know what I'm talking about.

If this is the extent of your rebuttal, then "fail" is a word with which you are well acquainted.

I am so glad I don't need to carry a gun everywhere I go. I don't live in fear and have no need to compensate for anything and no Wyatt Earp complex to feed.

Life is good when you're normal.

I can't recall what the figure is, but I think it's over 50% of American homes have at least one gun. Statistics show that law abiding gun owners are not a problem.

good point by little acorn, which I didn't notice until he/she pointed it out. Just goes to show that the bias is so pervasive, it becomes like water to a fish. Does anybody think Reuters would have a headline: "Most Americans back abortion lobby, right to kill unborn.' The day you see that headline from Reuters is probably a sign that the world is about to end.

The Gallup poll from last year showed that there is far more support now for gun rights that even in the 1950's. When it comes to guns, gun-rights, and self-defense, these are the good old days.

Since you "don't live in fear" I suppose you don't wear your seatbelt nor have a fire extinquisher at home (much less in your vehicle). After all you're not one of the nuts who is paranoid about car crashes or fires, nor have a chicken little complex

"Life is good when you're normal." Or, alternatively stated: "ignorance is bliss.
