That they care about our country's debt and deficit. Slashing our revenue through tax cuts combined with weak, symbolic spending reductions is their great plan to save our country? While they fight to keep emptying the coffers through payments to the ridiculously wealthy oil industry? It's unbelievable that anyone would defend or vote for these people.
Not to mention that a large portion of our deficit is because of a Republican president.
No one disagrees that we need to reassess government spending. However, this is a long term goal. Right now our economy has not fully recovered, and as much as right wingers hate it, government spending and investment is proven to help the economy. Fiscal austerity during an economic depression is a recipe for disaster. Look at what's happening in Europe.
Yeah, if we go to war with Iran, perish the thought of raising taxes to be fiscally responsible. Why do such a thing when Bush borrowed money to pay for his wars while cutting taxes?
It's pretty funny that in trying to accuse the GOP of a lie, you spread one. There are no payments to the oil industry. Tax breaks, yes, but payments no. If you think it's so easy to extract oil from the ground, refine it and distribute it, why not go into that business? You'll need a degree in petroleum engineering first, though.
Payments or tax breaks, do you seriously think it makes a difference? A billion dollars not taken, or taken and given right back....
In Europe, they give companies payments. In the USA, we give them money in tax breaks, and thus accomplish the same thing, but we can pat ourselves on the back for not being "socialist".
Oil business is hard yet extremely profitable. I'll have a degree in chemical engineering in about 3 weeks, thank you.

Yes I think it makes a difference. "Payments" means the gov't is giving them money. "Tax breaks" means that the gov't has decided not to take money. If you're about to earn a degree in chemical engineering I think you should be able to see the difference.

The GOP's biggest lie is that they're any different from their Democrat partners in crime.
Thanks for proving you're foolish enough to buy into the lie that one corrupt party is somehow better than their equally corrupt counterparts.
I like it! A good analogy for a REPRESENTIVE government. OF the people, for the people.....
Most people are fat right?
The government is super sized and always hungry for more.
Time to shrink it a good 60%, that is what I meant.
