I'm just surprised any businesses think something like this is still "hip and edgy". What happens when you've pushed the envelope as far as it will go? People might actually have to come up with ads that are creative...can't wait for that. This old chestnut (gays kissing..OMG!) is way past it's prime.
Tragically, it still is. Since Urban Outfitters' target market is basically 100% against homophobes, and therefore an ad sticking it to homophobes is something that the target market of the company will jump on.
Seriously. I'm more surprised that these "One Million Moms" are letting their dear angels shop at a store that's super popular with liberal hipsters, where they'll be exposed to all sorts of other horrible things like ironic t-shirts and hard copies of "Stuff White People Like."
While I have no problem with the ad, I do understand that it may offend some people. However, I must add that their clothes are cheap junk.....so who really cares??
Problem is, we wouldn't have heard of this if some idiots didn't make a non-controversy out of it.
Really? I just looked up some data. Urban Outfitters is like the 12 biggest apparel retailer in the US - just ahead of places like Ann Taylor, Men's Warehouse, DSW Shoes, Chicos, J-Crew....

I never heard of those either....well, except for maybe J. Crews.
But, you know, brand name clothing (or anything else) just isn't on my list of priorities.

Basically the number one seller of clothing to women in the 50-80 age range. I just looked it up - they have 1,225 stores in the US.
