To answer your question, many would love the idea, funny how the self procalimed Patriots here are the first to advocate armed revolution to force their idiology upon the rest of the Nation. If they cannot beat the other guys using the system setup by the founding fathers they are more than willing to tear it down to achieve their goals. I would say it is THEY, the far right, that are the biggest threat to the USA and I would not be surprised if they do force the Nation to deal with them one day, that is if they ever find a pair and a spine.

I think near death is an exaggeration. Definitely in decline, but not on the brink of collapse.
Sad part is that even if he loses we're still not the same nation we were. Someone of his ilk shouldn't even be able to secure the nomination of a major political party in America. He should be outright rejected at the start. In 2008 it's understandable, his radical past was hidden and he talked a good game in his campaign. But as soon as he appointed avowed communists as White House advisors his political career in the United States should have been over.
