Nobody, even the right-wing with their hands over their eyes, can't deny that GM is not only alive but profitable. It would take therapy-required denial to think that.

Of course, it required government (taxpayer) money. Much of that money is repaid. The government also owns GM stock. But more importantly, a study found that had GM gone under, the amount of money the government would have paid in unemployment benefits exceeded the remaining amount owed the government.

Considering that a GM failure would have also killed the auto supplier manufacturers, only partisan denialists could conclude that the bailout was not good for America -- it's only bad for Republicans, who largely opposed the bailout and now have egg on their faces.

I didn't miss the part of a poster's comments aboput his mother being a shareholder in Ford and her stocks having tripled.

All those accusing the corporations of greed had better include the owners of those corporations who ultimately dictate it's decisions. THE "CITIZEN JOE BLOW" SHAREHOLDER.

Ford has around 90 plants and facilities worldwide.

I live in Canada and we also gave billions to Bail GM out when they went down in 08 and I am glad they are doing well now...

But why is the $40,000 volt being pushed on us and it is very clear that now one is interested in them due to high price and that it needs a $10,000 Govronmewnt funded Rebate from all of us tax payers just to sell the overpriced car that only major sales buy them in fleets and has filed withn the private buyer is a singnal it has failed as a model and is losing money to try and sell a car no one has any interest in ..

when you can get a almost the same type of car in the cruze for $16,500 or a bae fords focus for $22,000 and they get 35-38MPG highway and 28-30MPG city and it would take 15 years to for the hybrid to break even in fuel savings.

Yes but Ford Cosworth sells models that do not come to North America and North American made cars and trucks don't go to the Europe..I mean the Europen built fords get awsome fuel economy and small efficent Diesel engine options are also more popular and I wish some of those would come here as they would sell very well due to being affordable and proven in Europe..as for the aussie made fords and GM holdens they share alot of the same power plants and drivetrains they are they only other Country with a love for V-8 muscle cars and RWD that rivals our love for pony and muscle cars.

Where are the cars going to be sold?

This is a stupid complaint.

Ford will build a plant in China for the same reason Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz and BMW build cars here - they are sold here and their factories can be tailored for the American market.
How much sense does it make to build cars here, ship them to China and then have to retro-fit them for that market?

Or, did you not know that Ford builds and sells millions of vehiclees all over the world, some huge number of which NEVER sell in the U.S. market? And, has done for decades.

BTW: without that global market, there would be NO Ford Motor Co.
How many jobs would they be able to create anywhere then?

I don't think that the OP is a liberal.
This liberal thinks it would be stupid, but, I've already addressed that.
