sorry muchnonsenseguy, everything you said there was untrue. Theft can often be a misdemeanor, many people charged with shoplifting don't even get jail time. Zimmerman was not having his "head bashed in", no more than a black man walking past you is "bashing your head in" I wonder where righty idiots even get these "facts", no basis in reality whatsoever.

I'm sure you'd love to live in Iran where people are tried without a jury and murdered but this is America. It makes me sick there are actually creepy would be murderers like you in our midst and millions of them!

Since when is shooting someone in the head when they are running away justifiable?
Armed and dangerous ...... really.... what a pathetic excuse to be 'gun happy"??????????????
So someone trying to tamper with your car outside your house should be shot too as they run away........ that's breaking the law also.

Was the shooter a Christian? Would you just let them take your stuff, how would you have handled it.

If it went bad then what, would it be your life or their's?

In most states, you can't protect property using deadly force unless you are in fear of your life, which seems to be the case here. The reason for the laws are because our society does not place property above the value of human life.
You will find that to be the "honest to God's Truth" in California , but I'm not so sure about ALABAMAAAA.......

I do agree with you here, this did seem very unneeded. This case shouldn't be compared to Trayvon, Trayvon was attacking and Zimmerman felt his life was being threatened.

To bad these guy's didn't just shoot in the air and call out a warning.

Sure. They were running away THIS time. What if next time they bring guns? The shooter may have saved future innocent victims. People have a right to defend their property from thugs. This girl would be fine, if at 0400 she was not breaking into people's property. Probably a druggie, looking for stiff to trade or sell for drugs.

Equating shooting off a gun with death is intellectually dishonest.

Most times when someone is shot (even multiple times), they do not die.

So every person who shoots off a gun in defense of his home/life is not necessarily using deadly force. Just potentially deadly force.

You can kill someone with a properly placed punch or kick. So is every fist fight a use of deadly force?

The moral of stories like this IS NOT 'try to ferret out why someone is lurking around your home and trying to break in and try to be kind and gentle about how you disabuse them of the idea of victimizing you.'

The moral is 'if you do stupid sh*t like CRIME and break into someone's home/property, some yahoo may blow your head off. So don't do it.'

According to the comments after the OP link's article, the burglars were armed.

Yes, I suspect it was about drugs, drug addicts who would kill their own mothers to satisfy their addition. If the parents had only set some kind of reasonable curfew for this underaged girl, she should have been home and sleeping and she'd be alive.

No, No, NO! Talk about unsafe gun handling!

Result could have been just as bad. What goes up must come down.

A shooter is legally, financially, and morally responsible for every round which leaves the barrel of his/her firearm.

Whenever a bullet leaves the barrel there may as well be an itty bitty lawyer attached to it ready to sue should it hit/harm/kill anyone or cause property damage.

Clue: Do not fire "warning" shots.
