fancy that , someone earnng ten million per year pays a cheque with more zero,s on it to the IRS than the guy who fixes engines for a living , the only relevant detail is what proportion of income each person pays in tax , everything else is elementary

Do yourself a favor and ask an "exploited" Asian how they feel about American companies siting their manufacturing plants in their country.

Gawd the ignorance is astounding!

Smile Why do you believe wealthy successful people owe you anything?

Why do wealthy successful people believe tax payers owe them more?

Haven't they benefitted from the American system more than us?

Did their mommies tell them they were special and entitled to more privileges than being already overprivileged?

I only knew one super rich and powerful person...we used to chat on the phone...He was involved with high finance and had great quiet clout...making billion dollar deals was a daily practice for him..During the viral scare when panic was tearing through international markets via the new modern link to the internet...I suggested to him - that a simple way to keep the digital infection out of the market was to simply unplug the damned thing...The market was off line for a few days...

If my suspicions are correct..it may have been a simple idea that saved millions...do you think that this guy would part with 50 cents if that was the case...a little appreciation? No way....The question is not whether these high and mighty types owe YOU anything...It's actually a question whether YOU owe them anything?

I will never take care of another person that would never take care of me...to hell with them.

I'm good for now, but thanks. We're due for an ugly bout of rain over the next few days in these parts.

No, the internet is easier.

Actually, I engage in conversation like this in person when I hear people complaining about how life isn't fair.

The same can be said of undervaluation of services so the profits can be transferred to people who did nothing useful (basically underpaying employees so bosses and stockholders can get profits).

I'm against that kind of theft too. I call double standard on the part of the righties.

I offer a compromise. I want to see living wages paid. Appropriate pricing of gas and rent. The more we can see that, the more I'm willing to cut social programs (and the taxes that fund them)

uhoh, I said the C word. Guess we can forget about that...
Why don't you buy an apartment building and charge what you deem fair?

Is there a big movement to raise taxes on the poor? Not that I am aware of. There are people pointing out how the tax burden is distributed, but this is in response to the claim that the rich aren't paying their fair share.

So what if they have? Is that wrong?

Overprivileged? Do you know what they went through to get where they are?
