It will happen and I hope they get away with it.

The only thing the current systems (in our skies) lack is onboard firepower.

If you don't think it's coming........wait.
We already have it.

MQ-1 Predator UAVs armed with Hellfire missiles are now used as platforms for hitting ground targets in sensitive areas. Armed Predators were first used in late 2001 from bases in Pakistan and Uzbekistan, mostly for hitting high profile individuals (terrorist leaders etc.) inside Afghanistan. Since then, there have been several reported cases of such attacks taking place in Pakistan, this time from Afghan-based Predators. The advantage of using an unmanned vehicle, rather than a manned aircraft, in such cases is to avoid a diplomatic embarrassment should the aircraft be shot down and the pilots captured, since the bombings took place in countries deemed friendly and without the official permission of those countries.[33][34][35][36]
A Predator based in a neighboring Arab country was used to kill suspected al-Qaeda terrorists in Yemen on November 3, 2002. This marked the first use of an armed Predator as an attack aircraft outside of a theater of war such as Afghanistan.[37]

Do a search on Drones, or UAVs. The drones/UAVs have been around for decades. Link..

Spying on people in their homes is illegal. We should all shoot down any drone over our property.

Use by LE should require a warrant just like a wiretap.

Mantra from politicians, either party- 'it's for your safety'
Mantra from liberals- If you're not doing anything wrong, what are you worried about'.
Until the drone is flying over YOUR back yard watching you while you're smoking a cigarette, grilling a high fat steak with a litre bottle of Pepsi on the table. Maybe your wife is out in the sun because she likes a no lines tan and the drone makes an immediate 180 turn for another look.

Do you remember what libs were saying back in the days when the "filthy" people from NSA were intercepting telephone calls from terrorists outside the country. We were saying that if you are doing nothing wrong why worry and now they have taken over those words. We were there first, though.

Now let me tell you people the last drone news I heard today. Boeing tested a super drone the other day and they had some trouble with the landing gear but nothing serious. Anyway the thing has a wing spread of 175 feet with two prop driven motors and a body to match the wing span. Anyway it is powered by hydrogen so doesn't have to refill in a 4 day flight. They don't have to worry about feeding the non-existent pilots and can fly at 65,000 feet so they would be very hard for the naked eye to pick up (impossible) and I don't know anybody who has a shoulder fired weapon that can fire that high. Yep, we are in trouble, it seems to me, especially if these socialists in power get back in power. Not to say that it won't be done by the new guys but we may have a chance with them.
