Obviously the evidence was not compelling enough for a guilty verdict. Good that the jury didn't convict simply because Edwards has such a bad reputation at this point.
Good for the justice system. It's not a world gone mad. It's fortunately, a justice system where people still listen to the evidence and come to a verdict based on that evidence, and don't convict someone just because they don't "like" that person.
It was a mistrial not a verdict of not guilty on five of the charges;quite different really.
I hope Elizabeth haunts him until he becomes insane.
You know, I think Elizabeth came to terms with what her husband had
done way before she passed away. Their personal pain really wasn't
for public consumption anyways. I'm glad the jury looked at the
evidence presented by the prosecution. It was weak at best.
With all the secret pac money now, can you honestly believe Edwards
belonged behind bars for 30 years....hardly.
I would be surprised if the Justice Dept pursues another trial - I would
wager to say, they need to justify the cost of one and the charges
IMO if deciding for another time around.

Even though the trial was in NC I'm sure the verdict created more than one sigh of relief in DC when it was confirmed being a sleazeball wasn't a criminal offense

..... which means all those DC cronies are sitting in their offices, making lists of everything they can get away with.
I didn't follow the trial but from the way I understand it, on the one ruling, it was likely correct. If some rich old broad wants to pay off some sleazeballs floozy, she has every right to do that.
In the end this was a huge winner for the people of the United States. It ends Edwards political career and in that we are all better off.

I'm sure there is an investment bank that already has a door with his name on it.
