Default Green Shoots!!!! - Solar & Wind Power Scams

You can scam the people buy forcing them to buy high priced energy like here:

The Wind Farm Scam | FrontPage Magazine
I never thought I’d agree with a member of the Kennedy clan, but Bobby Kennedy’s son got it right when he dismissed the much-hyped Cape Wind project that Interior Secretary Ken Salazar approved last week. “It’s a boondoggle of the worst kind,” Kennedy said. “It’s going to cost the people of Massachusetts $4 billion over the next 20 years in extra costs.”
***********

Or you be a democrat politician and scam the taxpayers thru corporate and family corny capitalism:
$737 million in green-tech loan to company connected to Pelosi family? « Hot Air
DOE announced a $737 million loan guarantee to help finance construction of the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project, a 110-megawatt solar-power-generating facility in Nye County, Nev. The project is sponsored by Tonopah Solar, a subsidiary of California-based SolarReserve.

The Energy Department said the project will result in 600 construction jobs and 45 permanent jobs.

PCG’s executive director is Ron Pelosi — brother of Nancy Pelosi’s husband. Suddenly, this deal makes a lot more sense than spending $737 million for forty-five jobs.

**********

Or you can use Obama's stimulus to scam the people with an $8 million solar project that will save the local community $200,000:

Solar energy project nears completion-Koolpower

The nearly $8 million, 1.5-megawatt solar energy project at Pittsfield's wastewater treatment plant is nearing completion, soon ending its dependency on Western Massachusetts Electric Co. for power.

"Saving $200,000 is an indication of what we can do with green energy," said Ward 6 Councilor John M. Krol Jr., who also chairs the Pittsfield Green Commission. "We've made a point of being a leading green community."
(With taxpayer money!)

A solar-powered sewer plant will be one of three major solar-energy projects within Pittsfield. The city recently contracted with Axio Power of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and two local companies, Gable Electric and J.H. Maxymillian Construction, to build a 2-megawatt solar plant at a closed city landfill.

***********

Or you can scam same people again, a year later, by telling then you can save them $2 million bucks, but charge them $10 million to do it.

Pittsfield Solar Project Scam: Spending $10 Mil to Save $2 Mil? - [domain blocked due to spam]

PITTSFIELD -- A two-megawatt solar power installation slated for atop Pittsfield's former landfill is expected to save the city more than $2 million on its electric bill over 20 years, according to officials working on the project.

The $10 million, 8,000-panel project planned for the landfill at the end of Downing Parkway could break ground in November, according to Bill Jordan, a project manager for SunEdison. If the winter weather is cooperative, Jordan said the solar array should be completed and operational in the spring of 2012.

***************

Or, you can join in the fun as a private citizen and scam the gullible greenies in another way, like they did here:

Feds charge 3 in Wyoming wind farm scam : The Billings Gazette - Montana & Wyoming News

An indictment filed March 15 accuses three people of defrauding investors of $3.7 million. Robert Arthur Reed and Lauren Elizabeth Scott of Morgan, Utah, and Christopher Ponish, of Panorama City, Calif., were charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. Reed faces other charges of mail fraud and wire fraud.

Even the poor dolphins are apparently suffering from these scams

WIND FARMS RESPONSIBLE FOR CAPE COD DOLPHIN DEATHS - TheCypressTimes (http://www.thecypresstimes.com/article/News/Opinion_Editorial/WIND_FARMS_RESPONSIBLE_FOR_CAPE_COD_DOLPHIN_DEATHS/56260 - broken link)

The low pitched hum produced by turbine engines, the sounds produced by the blades when in operation, and the buzzing noise coming from electrical lines necessary for wind farm operation is the cause for the recent dolphin beaching incidents in this area. Other non-audible sounds are also produced by turbine operation that interfere with any marine animal that uses sonar to conduct daily life.

Maybe this link would work better for our left leaners since it is from one of their favorite sites.

Wind farms may have warming effect - research | Reuters

I think that basing everything on alternative energy forms before some good studies have been made was wrong from the first but progressives want as much of his as they can bring up.

Not to change the topic - but it is laughable that they promote the minimal job benefit while at the same time continually defeating the Keystone pipeline which would benefit thousands of jobs.

Nice work on the articles.

Well, it's like that government mandated gasoline additive MTBE, or whatever it's called, that was pushed into use by politicians and environmentalists, and years later we find out it poisoned the ground water.

Add to your statement, that the Keystone pipeline would be using private financing. All we need Obama and his state department for, was to do the work on the treaty agreement with Canada, for the small part that crossed our national border.

I'm going from memory here but in that particular project they have a contract with the power distributor for something like 22 cents a kWh and that's wholesale, the wholesale costs from coal range around 4 or 5 cents. Even the average retail rate in the US is far below that at about 11 cents. The contract is for 15 years and calls for 3.5% increase each year, the cost per kWh will be 32 before it's up.

Obama said his policies would cause electricity rates to skyrocket.
