If it was one day okay I could see that. Maybe two if you stretch. But 5 days and he had to drink his own pee, tried to kill himself and broke his own tooth out of his mouth to carve I'm Sorry in his arm to his family.
There is no defense especially since they never charged him with anything and they admitted culpability by taking him to hospital and paying for it themselves. Holy crap this is crazy.

That's not admitting guilt at all. I'm not more guilty of knocking up someone's wife if I offer to drive her to a hospital to give birth.

Maybe if you are found in bed with her once then your comment would make sense. They pulled him out of a cell after forgetting about him for 5 days and drove him to the hospital and paid for it. They knew they were wrong from the jump but regardless this kid is getting paid.
