I grew up during the Regan years and his presidency affected my political outlook. I think the governor is spot on with his assessment here. What do you think?

REAGAN, not REGAN.

OK on this one I am pretty much an expert.

First I will defend Arnold at first as Governor. He said he was coming not to get along, but to blow things up in CA.
He jumped on the back of some propositions to weaken government unions, to restrict government and to inform parents if their own child had an abortion (your kid in CA can die from an abortion YOU had no knowledge of).

What happed was the Teachers UNION and other Government Unions threw hundreds of millions against these propositions that would shrink the government union influence.
The union teachers, police and forepeople were knocking on doors often during duty to try and effect the vote.

The above ended in a loss for the people and Arnold.
He tried, but after that one effort he gave up and did anything the Democrats wanted to do.

Today:
The whole country is broke.
We have no way to pay for spreading the wealth.
There is no way to get along with socialism/communism.

There is no great big umbrella we could cast that can be inclusive of the left and socialism. That is the bottom line.

Arnold got along as a Republican with Democrats
We now have 10% of the population and 30% of the welfare.
25% of our population is on poverty medical.
We have about half a trillion unfunded pensions.

How's that getting along in a big tent here in California looking as an example to the rest of the nation now?

CA is the perfect example of what happens when the Republican idea that we can have whatever we want without paying for it goes unchecked.

Good article, too bad righties will just ignore it and probably just call Arnold names like they do with anyone who bucks the neocon trend.

CA is the perfect poster child for sky high taxes.

"Derisively referred to as “Taxifornia” by the independent Pacific Research Institute, California wins the booby prize for the highest personal income taxes in the nation and higher sales tax rates than all but four other states. Though Californians benefit from Proposition 13 restrictions on how much their property tax can increase in one year, the state still has the worst state tax burden in the U.S."

Exodus: California Tax Revenue Plunges by 22%

When you're all done taxing and spending yourselves to prosperity, don't come here looking for a bailout.

No, just don't need advice from a bankrupt state.

So you support an ideological purity that casts out anybody's proposed solutions that you may not 100% agree with? Are you you against any discussion of a diversity of views within the party?

From the linked article:

Quote:
Being a Republican used to mean finding solutions for the American people that worked for everyone. It used to mean having big ideas that moved the country forward.
Yes. That's the way it was. But as the Governor says, not now. And that's One of the reasons President Obama will in all liklihood be re-elected.
