POLL: Democrats Should Condemn MoveOn
Former Mayor of New York City and Former U.S. Congressman (Democrat) Ed Koch made some nice comments on this subject. Ed Koch has always been a big Hillary Supporter. Read his comments and the comments of readers at:

I would not believe any apology out of the Democrats mouths but I do think it is good to keep it in the news so everyone knows who and what they are.

If democrats hope to win big in the '08 elections, they must put some distance between the main stream and the left wing of the party. We have seen what happens when the "fringe" elements take over one party, like with the republicans. With Howard Dean as head of the party, I'm not sure if that
idea will resonate here in the South. I also hope that the dems don't think they can win without conservative southern votes. If conservative VA can go democratic with a mainstream focus, then the rest of the South may do the same.

I think ever since the Roves of the world decided to swift-boat Moveon.org in the 2004 campaign, the Republicans who didn't realize the smear-job have hated the group and it is now like a sunburn... any little movement and you are irritated. This new flap about the NY Times ad is an example.
What event am I talking about that launched moveon.org into "far-left-smear-merchant" territory?
The online contest to run a political ad in the 2004 election. This is the origins of the always repeated line of Sean Hannity (and others) of "moveon.org compared Bush to Hitler", and the only way you could come to that conclusion after looking at the facts is if you are an idiot or are trying to be intentionally misleading.
The contest allowed people to submit 30 second spots, and then people could vote on which one they thought was best. 2 people (not associated with the group) among the thousands submitted videos with the Hitler comparison, and they were both quickly removed by moveon.org (just like Bill Oreilly and others removes threatening posts on his blog). Any time you saw a clip, it was from a Republican group that did a capture. Not exactly the same thing, is it? But if we kept the Republican logic, think of all the things that City-Data would have to represent based on what people posted? And when you focus exclusively on "quickly deleted material by a moderator", it gets much worse.

Move On asks questions. I want answers. I don't care who gets their feathers ruffled. No authority is sacred if it lies to me. No one should condemn a group for asking questions, or has it now become acceptable to taze someone who speaks up?
Thanks for yet another thread that further divides and erodes our country. I guess everyone should just sit still and have reality dictated to them by 'authority figures' with medals on their chests. Anyone ever think for themselves?

U.S. Senate Votes to Condemn MoveOn for Ad Attacking General Petraeus.
The measure passed in a 72-25 vote, with none of the Democratic presidential candidates supporting it.
Here is how the United States Senate Voted Against MoveOn: U.S. Senate: Legislation & Records Home > Votes > Roll Call Vote
