There seems to be a lot of crazy numbers thrown around about how many people die from second hand smoke but they can`t put a name on a single casualty.
Bullsh** My aunt never smoked a day in her life and she died from lung cancer. Do you think the doctor told my 82 year old uncle that his beloved wife of more than 50 years died from lung cancer because he was an habitual smoker for most of those years? What good would that do? My father was a chain smoker and had 3 children. 2 of them have chronic respiratory problems. My sister never smoked a day in her life and has asthma and bronchitis. I have chronic sinus infections.

What about taking care of your children? I mean, my parents weren't warned, but now there is no excuse!

"Even kids who don't have asthma are at risk of problems if their parents smoke. These kids are more likely to get upper respiratory infections, middle ear infections, and even pneumonia. Just being exposed to smoke from 10 cigarettes per day may put kids at risk of developing asthma, even if they've never had any breathing problems before."

So I guess you feel that Paul wasn't speaking in the "Name of God."
My question for you is how do you make any correlation between Paul's words and the issue of smoking bans?

I don't understand....isn't he saying to GO SOME WHERE ELSE? He's not making a judgement on whether smoking is good or bad, just that if you don't like it, go some where that doesn't allow it.

God probably woudn't approve of porn shops so as in the words of "InthenameofGod"....don't go there.

Did God believe in free will?

Secondhand smoke boosts the risk of chronic sinus problems. Surprised?

Did the Doctor mention the fact that there are OTHER things that cause these problems too?

If that many people have issues in your family maybe there are genetic factors involved.

However, your uncle was still alive and kicking at 82, huh? Of course that wouldn't tell you anything. You've been trained to think a certain way.

I'm not the person with that user name. Regarding smoking, if you are warned that smoking harms your body and causes cancer, heart disease, shortens your life, etc., isn't that disrespecting the gift spoken about in those verses? Isn't that why suicide is considered a sin? What is the difference between jumping off a bridge and poisoning your body with carcinogens?

So you don't think being considerate of others is mentioned either? Does having "free will" mean driving drunk, playing your stereo loudly or being rude? No, it means to use good judgment and care for your neighbors.

"Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."

Please explain why your uncle lived such a long life.

No. If you're in the small minority that wants to engage in behavior that necessarily aggravates everyone else around you, then you go somewhere else where others are not. Others should not have to forfeit their access to public domain because of your interest in turning the place into a campfire.

Please see post #444 regarding studies that are produced to push an agenda then explain why your uncle lived to such a ripe old age while he was the first hand smoker.

I would guess only God knows why some people are afflicted with the genes they are born with.

I don't think anyone is advocating for smoking in public places. But why shouldn't a bar owner have the right to serve coustomers that are smoking. Non smokers do not have to enter those establishments to conduct public business.

You've got to be joking, right? My father lived until his 90s and he smoked for many years, maybe more than 40. He still had COPD which affected every day of his life. I'm not here to talk about my childhood, however. My uncle had a quadruple bypass, which is why he gave up smoking. Some people even survive lung cancer. What's your point? There are people who drink themselves to death and others who are alcoholics and drug users who live until 100. To say that smoking isn't harmful isn't just ridiculous, it's ignorant. It's a fact, not an opinion.

These are some of the new warnings on cigarettes.

FROM THE FDA

WARNING: Cigarettes are addictive.
WARNING: Tobacco smoke can harm your children.
WARNING: Cigarettes cause fatal lung disease.
WARNING: Cigarettes cause cancer.
WARNING: Cigarettes cause strokes and heart disease.
WARNING: Smoking during pregnancy can harm your baby.
WARNING: Smoking can kill you.
WARNING: Tobacco smoke causes fatal lung disease in nonsmokers.
