Michele Bachmann claims Swiss citizenship - Tim Mak - POLITICO.com

Will she run for office in Switzerland, now?

I believe Bachmann serves on the intelligence committee.
What will prevent her from giving classified info to our Euro-socialist rivals?

Politico has got this wrong. Since 1992, marrying a Swiss husband no longer entitles a woman to automatic Swiss citizenship.

Ignoring that this is just a hypothetical (she is not a Swiss citizen), the question is really pretty goofy. Tens of millions of Americans are automatic dual citizens, most of whom do not even know it. How could the technicality of dual citizenship suddenly compel an otherwise loyal American to become a spy?

The daily beast reports it as well.

Bachmann Becomes Swiss Citizen - The Daily Beast

Quote:
According to a Swiss TV report, former GOP presidential candidate now has Swiss citizenship through her husband Marcus, who became a citizen in February thanks to his parents’ nationality.

And they have it wrong too. If she is a Swiss citizen, it cannot be automatically as the result of of her husband getting his citizenship recognized.

She has to have actively pursued it and applied herself.

The Swiss Newspaper 'Blick' is reporting it as well. Maybe you are wrong.

«Tea Party»-Ikone: Michele Bachmann ist jetzt Schweizerin

Translation: "Tea-Party"-Icon: Michelle Bachmann now a swiss citizen.

I just think it's funny for someone to claim another citizenship and demanding at the same time to investigate "Unamerican House Members".

Hypocrisy at its best.

She admits to applying for it, sayng she did so for their childrens benefit. Whats the issue?

Why is it hypocritical if the two issues have nothing to do with each other?

The truth is somewhere in the middle.

She qualifies automatically for dual citizenship, and so do the children, but she needs to fill out paperwork for the citizenship to be recognized.

There is no issue with holding dual citizenships.

Obama himself held dual citizenshps until he was 18, and the left defended that to no end, now all of a sudden they have issue with it.

As I said... Politico got it wrong. The OP linked to an article that read (emphasis added):

Quote:
Marcus Bachmann, the congresswoman’s husband since 1978, reportedly was eligible for Swiss citizenship due to his parents’ nationality — but only registered it with the Swiss government Feb. 15. Once the process was finalized on March 19, Michele automatically became a citizen as well, according to Honegger.
Since 1992 it doesn't work that way. Bachmann had to have actively pursued Swiss citizenship, it cannot have been automatic.
