Really? Where are your details? Who was using the phone? I doubt one person racked up that bill. Is it normal for there to be that much cost for an ex-President? Does that cost include the secret service?

It might or might not be an issue here. An ex-President is still a figure of state. You still call him President and he still has to talk with foreign dignitaries. I doubt the $80k is for sexting his lovely wife or calling the bike shop to see if his new mountain bike is ready.

No need to get upset over anything here without any details.

If you study the graph in the article, then one will see it mirrors life in general, especially the aging. Bush Sr and for that Mr Carter are both in their 80s now. Older people naturally spend less. Nothing to see here, unless one is attempting to make some silly political point.

All of our ex-Presidents are entitled to generous pension given what they pay while in office. The same will be true when Mr Obama's time to be a former President comes.

I don't have a problem with this in principle but perhaps a cap should imposed.

Oh, this is not new. When George Washington was asked to lead the Continental Army, the Continental Congress was willing to pay him a salary. Washington remarked, "I don't want a salary; just cover my expenses," which Congress agreed. After the war, Washington presented Congress with a bill for $160,074 -- a fortune for that time.

When the Constitution was being written, the memory of this event was still fresh and the decisions was made to award the president compensation.

People want to play partisan crap, I can, too.

So the liberals well-spoken and clean hero still infesting the White House has outspent Bush 10 times over. Plus his socialized medicine plan will triple that. That is this idiot's legacy.

November can't get here soon enough.

Wait a minute...stop the bus! People shelled out $15 million dollars to hear him speak? Forget about the Mayan calendar--that right there is all the sign anyone needs that the world is coming to an end.

Worth billions? Oh, please show me the proof of that.

The link shows that Clinton is worth almost twice W - he must be worth gazillions.

For once, here's a Republican who I agree with.
And he is worth every penny of it compared to Bozama.
