Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan is charging President Barack Obama with undermining the “very cornerstone of society” by supporting “gay marriage.”
Cardinal Dolan, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, described the president’s endorsement as “deeply saddening.”
The bishops “cannot be silent in the face of words or actions that would undermine the institution of marriage, the very cornerstone of our society,” he said in a May 9 statement. “The people of this country, especially our children, deserve better.”
Cardinal Dolan said that the announcement was “not surprising” based on the Obama administration’s previous actions, which “erode or ignore the unique meaning of marriage.”
He called for prayer and efforts to “promote and protect marriage” in order to “serve the true good of all persons.”
The high divorce rate does far more to undermine marriage and society than gay marriage. Religious people seldom complain about that. Instead, they want to scapegoat a tiny minority, homosexuals, for the ills of society.

A religous leader is against gay marriage, simply shocking.
Is he also against all forms of contraception?
How about pedophiles, is he against those also?

No question the Catholic Church let too many homosexual males become priests and they molested boys. It was a huge mistake.
Seeing as most pedophiles, assuming they have an adult orientation are usually heterosexual, married, and religious, clearly your education needs some updating.
The problem is more with homosexuals. Maybe that was a huge mistake.
I know your blind hatred of gays makes you say stupid things, but you really need to learn that homosexuals are extremely unlikely to be pedophiles. Pedophiles are usually heterosexuals if they have an adult orientation, and are drawn to the soft, feminine like qualities of both young boys and girls.
Gay men are attracted to masculinity, which makes it very unlikely for them to find children attractive. Get your facts straight.
How is this comment allowed to stand? This is one of the most hateful posts I've read on these boards and I'm not even Catholic.
We have Conservatives on this board saying gays need to be executed, and saying the most corrupt institution in history shouldn't exist is what you find hateful?

How credible from a representative of an organization that hides homosexual pedofiles.
And furthermore, why is this clergyperson meddling in political affairs anyway??
Methinks I smell hypocrisy wafting from the cathedral...
