If you follow that logic, public schools coming into existence was a huge mistake because they are having the same problem, especially with lesbians molesting girls. Of course, it's not as newsworthy as when it involves a priest.
The problem is more with homosexuals. Maybe that was a huge mistake.
Why do heterosexual males keep trying to palm off the fact that it's heterosexuals males who do the vast majority of sexual molesting of children? Both boys and girls.
Why are people too stupid to realize that going down to the court house to get a marriage certificate has NOTHING to do the religious institution of marriage. Don't want gays to marry? No problem. Don't offer church wedding ceremonies to gay couples. Simple. But stay out of the legal institution of marriage!
If you are the LEADER of a organization that WILLFULLY covered up the molestation of young boys for YEARS then a apology is the LEAST of what you should be doing.
The Catholic Church really has lost a great deal of credibility in terms of telling other people what to do.

Whether you like it or not, the Roman Catholic Church with it's outrageous scandals concerning sexual abuse and pedophile priests, and the protecting and cover-up of these criminals, is in no position to denounce the validity of loving and committed gay and lesbian couples.
Wilton Gregory, the Archbishop of Atlanta, has also been considered "papabile" - he would not only be the first American pope but the first African-American pope and the first nonwhite pope.
Maybe it's time for another female pope- if you believe in the legend of Pope Joan.
I'm sure it will be a dark day in hell before this bastion of male pontification (pun intended) ever allows a woman into their ranks.
