Oh they know what's going on just as well as we do. This whole thing has disgusted me to the point that I haven't even bothered to follow it. From both sides actually.
George Zimmerman has a multi-racial background. Big freakin deal. He shot a god damn 17 year old kid. Was he defending himself, or was he not? And if he wasn't, who gives a damn if he "profiled" (ooh scary racist word) the kid. Is shooting kids okay as long as you don't profile them first? What the hell is that all about?
It's sad that so many millions of people are so ignorant and full of their own dogmatic left/right BS that they buy into the frenzy, which really has nothing to do with the facts of the case. It's all about skittles, profiling, and SYG laws (skittles being the most relevant of the 3 IMO). Because when you push those buttons on the ignorant sheep, someone somewhere makes a killing whether it be monetary or political.
I still don't have an opinion as to whether the shooting was in self-defense or not, which is the only question that matters. I expect the trial will probably give a reasonable good answer one way or the other.
But there is one thing that can be seen beyond a reasonable doubt from the coverage of the case, and that is the the race-baiting, racist nature of much of the left and liberal media, particularly the New York Times. I mean how many times do they have to get caught making false accusations of racism before people wake up to what is going on? You had the Ackerman 'call them racists' incident, the quote from Mary Frances Berry about tea partiers, now the NYT and others trying to paint Zimmerman as racially motivated, with zero evidence.
How many of these false accusations of racism before people figure out that they are deliberately trying to foment division and hostility for the sake of partisan gain?
Sad what this nation, it's people and most especially .. what our Media has become!
Anyone notice .. It is ALWAYS the liberals who jump to (or make up) the Race factor!?
Cut them some slack! It's all they have!!!

Actually, the vast majority of racism occured at sites like Daily Caller and Wagist, where writers tried to portray Martin as some vicious black thug based on cherry-picked photos and rap quotes. All in all, it was pretty bizarre to see the lengths they went to to justify Zimmerman freaking out over some kid walking down the street and let's not forget the photo of a completely different kid that was also supposed to show that he was a thug - that one was hilarious, apparently conservatives can't even tell black people apart. The NYT actually did a good job exposing their race-baiting, pointing out the wide array of photos, tweets, and so forth that these sites did not publish.
Why everyone thinks Zimmerman is a white guy? I always thought that he look latino! And it is true that he is!
