So..it begins...just as predicted.

Catholic University Says Obamacare Will Double Insurance Costs | FOX News & Commentary: Todd Starnes

Quote:
The Franciscan University of Steubenville has announced it will drop health insurance coverage for students because the cost of the plan is expected to double under Obamacare. The university also took issue with a federal mandate that their insurance plan provide free birth control.

The small Catholic school in Ohio posted a statement on their website stating they “will not participate in a plan that requires us to violate the consistent teachings of the Catholic Church on the sacredness of human life.”
Remember, we can keep our plan under obamacare! Remember, cost for premiums will decrease under obamacare!

Obama Mandate Forces First Catholic College to Drop Insurance | LifeNews.com

Quote:
“The Obama Administration has mandated that all health insurance plans must cover “women’s health services” including contraception, sterilization, and abortion-causing medications as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA),” the university says in a new post on its website. “Up to this time, Franciscan University has specifically excluded these services and products from its student health insurance policy, and we will not participate in a plan that requires us to violate the consistent teachings of the Catholic Church on the sacredness of human life.”

“Additionally, the PPACA increased the mandated maximum coverage amount for student policies to $100,000 for the 2012-13 school year, which would effectively double your premium cost for the policy in fall 2012, with the expectation of further increases in the future,” FUS continues.
Maybe this was the plan all along. Have employers drop coverage which then FORCES employees on to the government roll.

The overturning and/or repeal of this odious law can't come soon enough.

The very fact that it was passed by a congress that doesn't have to abide by it says it all!

Could this be the same Roman Catholic church that connived with the Nazis, that protected war criminals and that has covered up systematic abuse of children? Still, at least their teachings are 'consistent'.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh..................................

So despite their statement "“will not participate in a plan that requires us to violate the consistent teachings of the Catholic Church on the sacredness of human life.” , they're free to sweep those times when there was no sacredness of human life in the church's actions under the rug because they're a college.

How convenient.

A college is not a church.. Are you liberals really this ignorant to not know the difference, and what the hell does the other items have to do with the thread, or was it just your way of hijacking and distracting from the facts?

'Catholic' University ..... 'consistent teachings of the Catholic Church'.

Oh, get over your self!

The typical hypocrisy here is your defense of the college hiding behind the church when it's convenient while being unwilling to admit there have certainly been times when the church's alleged dedication to "the sacredness of human life" was just that, an allegation.

This is no different than those who happily lie, cheat, and steal during the weak only to proudly speak of their 45 minutes in church on Sunday morning as if that somehow excuses their other activities.

IF the college is to be allowed to hide behind the teachings of the church then ALL the church'e teachings/actions are fair game.
