Why is there such widespread, strident gay bigotry that insists that everyone should agree with them, or else "they're bigots!"

In a societal debate, surely a more rational approach would gain them more ground:Same-Sex Marriage: Nobody’s Listening | RedState

The U.S. is the most religious of all the industrialized nations with the exception of Turkey. It's not suprising that we're chalk full of bigots. When people are attached to a dogma, and have suspended freethought, this is what you get.

That swings both ways.

Gays think those who don't agree with them are bigots

Those who don't agree with gays think gays are bigots (or sinful or whatever) or don't respect their views on "morality"

It will never end...because different people have different opinions.

I crossed over. I don't care who people marry or sleep with, as long as they are consenting adults. But I haven't always felt that way...mostly because I was raised in a strict Catholic family. However, sometimes time changes everything.

People in Europe bomb churches and the continent is a hotbed of religious intolerance and racism and you call us bigots?

Hahahahaha.....get a grip, there's apparently plenty of bigotry in yer own back yard that you are hardly in a position to judge what's happening over here.

Bigotry knows no boundaries. Homosexuals are guilty of it as are heterosexuals.

The difference being is that the religious right, the religious nutjobs and the conservatives are the ones who practice, preach and exemplify what exactly bigotry is all about and are the living definition of bigots.

If they weren't acting in such an ignorant fervor, then people wouldn't call them out and label them as the pompous ass bigots they make themselves out to be.

Tolerance is a virtue.

There are different degrees of bigotry. Yes, there are gay bigots, but they usually aren't pushing for laws that restrict individuals from living their lives as they see fit. On the other hand, we have lots of religious bigots who absolutely want to write their beliefs into the law of the land.
